Hi this is the first time I have ever posted on a forum. I was diagnosed new years eve and am now waiting for surgery. I was under the impression that breast cancer was not painfully but I am having a lot of pain. I am very full busted could this be the reason. My breast feels very heavy and hot has anyone experienced this. I would appreciate any useful information please. Op booked for 26th very frightened and can’t sleep.
@Bridie96 - welcome to this lovely forum, although I’m obviously very sorry you find yourself on here. This was also the first forum I had ever posted on so I understand your comment well - but it has been an enormous help to me and I hope it will be for you too.
Before I respond to your question, I just wanted to let you know a bit more about the forum. There are lovely nurses supporting people on here too - their number is on the top of the page in pink. If you have any medical questions you can call them, or alternatively post on the nurses’ part of the forum. There is also a service called “Someone Like Me” where you can be put in touch with someone who has gone through similar treatment and have a more personal support.
I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and I still remember that terror, of feeling like I had just been hit by a truck that came out of nowhere. I’m really glad you found this forum and reached out for support. We are here to listen or chat, or just send a big hug at times when that’s all you want.
My BC wasn’t painful, but I have read comments from others on here about experiencing pain. If you would like to chat more I would recommend calling the nurses, or your own BC nurse at your hospital.
The waiting is always hard as our minds go into overdrive and start rushing ahead. If it would help to know more about surgery, please feel free to ask any questions. This is a lovely safe non judgmental place where you can ask anything, as everyone just “gets it”. See if you can find something to distract yourself, whatever that may be, and give yourself lots of treats. It may sound a cliche but now is the time to be extra kind to yourself and prepare for surgery. I don’t know what surgery you are having, but you might want to stock up the freezer or arrange for friends to help out.
A couple of pieces of advice that I was given and found very helpful to keep repeating - take one day at a time, and remember that fears are not facts.
I wish you all the very best for your surgery and recovery, and please keep in touch on here. I’m sure others will be along with more personal experiences, but I’m happy to answer any questions or just chat. Sending hugs, Evie xx
I am a newbie too, got my result yesterday. Like you I am big busted and am in some pain and discomfort. I have been given the option of lumpectomy or mastectomy on 21st February. What a decision I am at a loss as to what is the best option.
