Hi
I have just been diagnosed with secondary cancer in the liver. I had breast cancer 9 years ago with right mastectomy chemo radiotherapy and 10 out of 17 treatments of hercepton.
I have to see the oncologist on Tuesday but I’m trying hard staying positive. My doctor said the tumour is quite a large area on my right lobe.
What treatment has everybody had this for and how long ago and how bad was the treatment?
I no I’m no different from any of you but I’m just not ready to let this cancer beat me . I have 15 year old twins , 3 older daughters and 6 granddaughters and a new baby on the way.
I must admit this terrifies me.
Thanks
Lorraine xx
Hi Lorraine and welcome! I’m not sure what the oncologist suggest first for liver secondaries because mine is in my lungs! I can tell you there are lots of treatments out there. My mets were found in fall of 2005, soon will be here 12 years with them. I had a bad spell in 2012 and my oncologist didn’t tell me until over a year later that he thought that was the end for me. It is the weekend and it is very quiet on here. You will get responses. You will feel better once you have a plan. I have constant treatment since my mets were found. I have done very well with minimal side effects. Hugs and good luck.FF
Hi funnyface
Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated. I am so glad to hear you are doing well now . Hearing this helps me to stay positive. I am sure most people are the same with good days and bad with being able to stay positive.
I wish you all the luck for the future
Take Care xx
Hi Lorraine ,
I too have secondary liver cancer - have had chemotherapy 2 years ago - ( 6 doubles ) & am on tamoxifen now
I go to the breast clinic every 6 months & oncologist every 6 months -
I do keep active most of the time doing yoga , tai chi & qi gong - if you can go to any classes for these go - they help I only started these when I was diagnosed ( I was given a couple of months at best )
Since I had this news my eldest daughter has successfully passed A levels & got into uni - & passed her driving test , my youngest daughter whose 12 has finished primary school , gone to high school where she’s the hardest working in the year ( a big surprise to me )
My diagnosis has made me appreciate my life - my husband , my daughters & my family & friends
Everything in your life will be fine - stay positive & keep I Touch ID love to hear how you get on & will send positive energy to you especially on Tuesday ?X carol
Hi Carol thank you for your reply. I’ve never thought about doing any of these classes but I will definitely keep them in mind. I am glad to hear you are doing well now and you must be so proud of your family. I am also very family orientated as my family are my world too. They are all still trying to come to terms with my diagnosis but I no we will stay strong and positive. They are my rock.
My doctor told me I will probably get chemo to keep it at bay but it will never go away . At the time I felt my life was over until the breast care nurse explained further that they can try different types of chemo to suit me and it has helped many people to keep it at bay for many years. She was a bit more positive than my doctor so now I can’t wait to hear what my oncologist has to say.
Sorry for ranting lol. I had so many plans this summer between holiday booked outings weekend away 2 concerts and now I don’t know if I can do any . I am going to speak to Oncologist to see if I brought holiday forward as soon as next weekend if I can delay treatment until I come back . So here’s hoping .
I will post again to let you no how I get on at my appointment on Tuesday.
Thanks for reading xxx
It’s me again - tell me to go if you want too
When u had chemo I was lucky enough to get through it ok - hopefully you’ll be the same
Go out there with a positive state of mund & enjoy yourself on holiday as I was told there are lots of different drugs out there so if the first doesn’t suit they’ve another one
Good luck I’m thinking of you
Don’t hesitate to ask me anything - keep smiling x
Thank you Sheep . That is what I aim to do but think it was just a big shock after 9 years clear or so I thought. I always tried to keep positive when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer and my chemo back then wasn’t too bad either so I hope I will be the same this time round too.
I do appreciate all the comments as sometimes family don’t really understand . Talking on here is starting to make me feel more positive too. Xxx
Fingers crossed for u & let me know how u get on on Tuesday & what treatment you’ll be having x
I will do .
Take Care xx
Hi just a little update on how I got on today .
I seen oncologist today and I will be starting chemo in about 4 weeks which will be after I come back from holiday. My chemo will be 6 treatments over 18 weeks and maybe hercepton depending on my heart scan as it affected my heart last time. After treatment I will get put on a hormone tablet .
I feel a lot better now knowing what my treatment will be .
I hope you are all keeping well
Take care xx
That’s great news- have a good holiday xx
Hi Lorraine was also diagnosed with secondary breast cancer to the liver there are 2 tumors 13 mm each. Mine was from the get go. So far I been on Chemo which shrunk the tumors a bit. Now I am on Zoledex and Tamoxifen.I am PR/ER+.Terrifies me too
I too have secondaries in my liver. I’ve had a course of paclitaxel, just finishing it and the tumour seems to have shrunk. The liver specialist has agreed to revove it in about a months time as it is not scattered, although it is in an awkward place. I cannot have ablation as it is too big. Ask about your options? It is a shock but stay strong. Did you mean you are pregnant?
