I have just recently been diagnosed with Breast Cancer (about 4 weeks ago) Nothing ever showed up in the actual breast on mammogram, however, an enlarged lymph node was detected which was then biopsied and came back as ER/PR positive. I have not started any treatments yet as my CT Scan came back for concerns of bone mets in several areas. I have a Bone Marrow Biopsy tomorrow which I am scared to death to have. Monday I will be having my ovaries removed since we really don’t want my body producing estrogen any more. I am 49 years old and have never felt more scared and anxious as I do right now. I really don’t have a lot of pain. I do get low back pain at times but it is not severe and it is very intermittent. I never really need to take anything for pain so far. I then will meet with my Oncologist next week to go over bone marrow biopsy results and hopefully come up with a plan of treatment. I have read a lot of positive posts about bone mets so I am trying very hard to remain as positive as I can.
Hello sgagliardi, just wanted to say you have come to the right place as the lovely people on here will give you all the help and support you need. There is also phone support on the main page, either with a nurse or ‘Someone like me’ if you feel like it. There is a lot of info out there, but only use this site or Macmillan, as google can take you to some outdated and useless sites. Wishing you all the best and take one step at a time.:cathappy:xxx
Sorry that you’ve found yourself here, but there are lots of lovely ladies here who will give you as much support as possible.
This is the worse time, when you are anxiously waiting on tests and results.
Once you receive your treatment plan, you will start to feel better. I’m sorry I don’t have any experience on bone mets, but there are some threads on here that are worth looking at.
Hi sgagliardi and welcome. I’m sorry you are having such a tough time at the moment. I was diagnosed just over 4 weeks ago myself and am a similar age to you. This forum is great for advice and support so I’m glad you found your way here. Hope your biospy goes ok tomorrow. Ali xx
Hello sgagliardi, I just wanted to say hello and let you know I am thinking about you.
I was diagnosed two weeks ago and I found out today it’s in my lymph node. Will get a bone and liver scan in next few days along with a chest X-ray.
I am trying to remain positive but feel in limbo. I was expecting to get my treatment plan today.

I just met with my onc and the bone marrow biopsy has confirmed that the breast cancer has spread to my bone marrow. My whole treatment plan has changed now. Instead of chemo and surgery I will now be taking a combination oral medication of letrizole and ibrance along with a monthly injection of xgeva for my bones. Should be starting this in about 2 weeks. My dr says she has seen great success with this and that many live a lot of years on this with good quality of life. So hoping this is the case.
Hi Sgagliardi, so sorry you’ve had such a curved ball thrown at you today. You’re definitely not alone on your journey - we are all with you!!! Sending you a hug and a huge dose of positivity. Just keep talking to us, there’s always someone here to help xxx
