Just got urgent referral!!!

Hi everyone and thank you for reading this.
I went to the doctors 2 weeks ago because one of my breasts felt different, she did examination and said there was a thickening and to come back in 4 weeks time.
Anyway I went back yesterday and was then told that there was a lot more thickening and she was going to do an urgent referral.
My appointment is on Tuesday and she said it would be scan, mammogram and possibly biopsy and I’m now worried.
I am 35 and had a total hysterectomy done three and a half years ago, since then I have been on HRT.
I know no one can tell me for sure whats going to happen but is it a bad sign when the thickening gets a lot worse in only two weeks?
Thanks again x

Actually when things happen that fast it’s likely to be hormonal, HRT is hormonal so could account for it.

As you’re only 35 they’ll do an ultrasound scan (because your breasts will be dense like most of us pre menopausal ladies).

I hope it all comes back all clear for you, but do ask any questions. I’m 33 and was diagnosed with breast cancer back in Jan this year and am close to the end of my main treatment now, It’s going to go down as a year that seriously changed my perspective and I wouldn’t want to do it again but the shock did pass and I have coped and am starting to get my life back so please don’t fret over the worst, if it does turn out to be cancer there are treatments and drugs to help you cope with the treatments but hopefully you will be one of the 90% where it isn’t cancer.

Nothing wiill stop you worrying while you do the tests etc but have hope. The biopsy doesn’t hurt that much, its like a short sharp stabing pain but subsides pretty quickly and heals quickly too. The hardest thing is not jumping when it makes it’s cachunk noise.

All the best and hoping you’re one of the masses that gets the good news.

Angie

Hiya Angie,

Thank you for your reply and reassurance.

You sound a very brave determined person and I am so pleased that you are coming to the end of your treatment.
If you dont mind me asking how was yours discovered?

I am a positive person normally it just seems to be one thing after another this year, beginning of the year I got diagnosed with ME and then in July my Dad got diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s ( he is 61 )

I will let you know how it goes on Tuesday and thank you again.

I wish you all the best for the future.

Paula

Oh Paula, that is a lot to deal with in one go. Yeah I am quite determined… stubborn even

ME’s a tough and not very well known about disease, I hope your treatments going well for it. I assume you’ve cut out aspartame from your diet (that is the common view now right, I certainly would just in case that turns out to be true?)

Anyway let us know how your tests and results go… fingers crossed for you. Sounds like you need a lucky break.

Angie
