just got verbal diagnosis that i have breast cancer and i am totally in shock

Hi i had to go to breast clinic this morning and had a mamogram and ultra sound they found 2 small lumps and they have done a biopsy on them as well as my lymph node, when i went back to see dr for results she said we are fairly certain it is cancer, and now i’m totally petrified, they said that is very treatable and i piped up and said im going to die …she said no you are not, but how do they know that it can be treated without seeing the official results …im so confused and very very scared and im shaking, i have to go back for the biopsy results on the 13th january.

Not what you want just before Xmas  Most breast cancers are very treatable particularly the small ones . I was diagnosed 6 years ago and I’m still here as are all the ladies I spoke to at the time of my diagnosis . It’s terrifying at first and you can’t help but think the worst but if you look at statistics for breast cancer survival they are very very encouraging . Treatments are amazing and have come on so much even since I was diagnosed . The thing that got me through was talking to people going through the same thing on this forum and people further down the line too . There is always someone to talk to who understands and lots of knowledge you can tap into , also a helpline where you can talk to specialist nurses . It takes a while for the doctors to get all the information they need to decide what treatment to offer you and the waiting bit is very hard but once you start treatment things get easier .Keep coming and talking here .
