Hello everyone. Had mastectomy and lymph node clearance 22 july. Saw oncologist on 2nd september i will be having 4 rounds of chemo and phesgo for a year. I had a heart function scan 3 weeks ago but still waiting for a date to start chemo. Im feeling anxious and just want to get on with it. I rang velindre where i will be having chemo 2 weeks ago if they had any idea when my start date will she said my nurse will ring me back. Im still waiting is it normal for such a long wait for chemo. x
The waiting is so hard isn’t it, just wanted to say I hope you hear soon and are able to get started.
Take care xx
Thank you. Ive been so positive but this waiting on chemo is another level. Ive got so many family and friends behind me im struggling to find the words to how im feeling at this point. Im keeping everything crossed i hear soon. x
I feel for you. The waiting is horrendous and I just needed a date to mentally prepare myself (and also tell work that I’d be off!)
I had my first surgery in May, node clearance 23rd July so chemo felt a long time coming,
I called my BCN in the end and she chased the chemo unit.
Hope you get a date soon xx
Thank you. I have physio up the breast clinic on thursday so might have a word with nurse. X
It is really hard waiting to start, isn’t it?
I had surgery last year on 31 July and started chemo in early October. They like to give you some time to heal after surgery, although we just want them to get going with the next stage.
Found out today my chemo starts next week , i can now get ready for it xx
Thank you, i had some bad news tonight my sister in law whose early 40s has just been told she has breast cancer also which has been so upsetting but we both shall fight x
Hi,
Sorry you have had a wait, and also about the news of your SIL. You will be great support for each other. I just thought I would say Hello as I’m a Velindre patient too. The staff are all lovely and kind xx
Thank you for reply. I had my 2nd cycle yesterday and yes it truly is the hospital if hope. After my first round i unfortunately ended up in hospitak 4 days later neutroponic sepsis which blew me away so im isolating for the next week. My cousin was working on the ward cdu yesterday which was lively it was such a positive vibe yesterday lots of laughs xxx
Oh no, so sorry that happened to you! I was in hospital after my surgery with an infected seroma. It was The Grange in Cwmbran. Hopefully we’ve both had our quota of mishaps now and the rest of our treatments go smoothly x
Absolutely , i had cellulitis after mastectomy and node clearance but hopefully thats it now, good luck with the rest of your treatment, julie xx
