Just wondering............

Hi,

I have been reading throght and have noticed that some people have said that they have had clear margins, i was not told this, I had a grade 1-2 cancer no lymph involvement and was 9mm, but was not told that i had “clear margins”, what does this mean?

…I know now, I had a double mastectomy thats why my onc hadnt said anything! Thank god for the internet!

Well I had mastectomies and was still told about the margins. Basically they measure how much tissue around the tumour was infected and how close to remaining tissue it was.

In the case of mastectomy there’s how close it was to the chest wall.

On my right mastectomy it was fairly close to the wall so they gave me measurements which were clear but measurable.
On my left tumour there were no measurements which everyone seems to have taken as well clear but it’s something I will be checking.

I’d ask your oncologist just to be clear where you stand (I am asking)

I had a tumour in each breast in case this a bit confusing (I know it’s not that common at the same time).

Thanks Angie, my tumor was only really small and was on just uder the skin near my nipple so i think that is why they didnt mention this. Ill still ask my onc though, thanks for your help!
