Juvenile Fibroanademia

My 12 year old daughter has a lump in her right breast. Saw GP today who says no puckering or lumps in armpits or other breast. She said the right breast is generally ‘lumpier’ than the left . She wasn’t very reassuring and just said we need to be seen in a breast clinic in two weeks. We go on holiday on Friday and I’m scared for my daughter. Is this likely to be fibroadenemia? This is what my research online suggests.

Hello maddiemum

Thanks for posting. It sounds like a worrying time for you and your daughter.

You may find it reassuring to read some information about changes in the breasts in teenage girls.

You will see in the information that it is common to find lumps in breasts that are still developing, and that the most common cause of these is a fibroadenoma which is a benign (not cancer) condition as your research suggests

It’s good that you took your daughter to the GP as it is important to get any lumps checked out, but it’s understandable you feel scared about her being referred to a breast clinic. Hopefully you and your daughter will feel more reassured after this appointment.
