Kadcyla Ineligibilty

I had a 4.5mm residual of live cancer but as I had cancer before I have been told I am not eligible for it. I have been told by the MDT and another oncologist both at a different hospital I am eligible for it though.
My oncologist has also said as I had Sepsis whilst having chemo I am more prone to infections and as I had itchy arms I may tolerate Phesgo better. I was on blood thinners too and it stopped when I stopped those.
He has said to my surgeon the MDT didn’t see me in hospital every day for 2/3 weeks when I had Sepsis and I don’t tell him when I am feeling ill as I did delay taking my temperature for 2 days when I felt I had no energy and wasn’t hungry etc.
I am told the benefit of Kadcyla is small/2% and my oncologist said it’s 11% (Katherine trial).
Has anyone else been in a similar position re this? I enquired re Kadcyla regardless of my response to treatment but was told no. I double checked with my oncologist at the end of the meeting and he said it’s if you have metastatic cancer.
I only did 10 of 12 Paclitaxel and stopped chemo in November and op wasn’t until Feb as had blood thinners and a CT in Jan

Dear@Linda_Corinne, I am also someone who had a partial response to chemo but was told that although Kadcyla was the recommened next treatment I couldnt have it because I had refused Paclitaxol. This also barred me from access to Phesgo as well so I just had Herceptin. In my case I was more relieved than bothered but had I not been, my first port of call, after quizzing the oncologist, would be to look at the NICE guidelines online for breast cancer and read what it says. It does seem sensible that your oncologist is taking a holistic approach and taking your overall health and well being into account. This sounds like a difference between eligibility and suitability. Keep asking questions until you have a clearer understanding of the oncologists recommendation and dont give up until you get clarity because peace of mind is so important. Wishing you well.
