Just started letrozole 2 weeks ago and had 1st Kadcyla on Monday - felt fine all week until today ( Friday) and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus .Very tired , aching joints and uncomfortable stomach . Any ideas ? Letrozole or Kadcyla or the combination?
Well, Letrozole is absolutely horrible but I don’t think it comes on that quick. I reckon it’d be the other drug or a combo. Either way, talk to your team and get it sorted. Don’t suffer xx
Hello bella68
I am also on letrozole. I have a lot of side efffects but since I am high risk my oncologist told me I have to stay on it. I hope for you that the side effects are not as bad. Wishing you good health.
Thank you - hope you manage your symptoms and wish you all the best.
Thanks Laneycass .
Hi bella68
Thanks for your message. It sounds as if you’ve been having a difficult time since having your 1st Kadcyla injection last week.
Joint aches and pains are a very common side effect of letrozole. We hear from many women who experience joint symptoms such as pain and stiffness. Symptoms may affect the hands, arms, knees, feet, pelvic and hip bones, or back. The cause of these symptoms is not known for certain, but it is thought that they are linked to a fall in oestrogen levels.
Kadcyla can also cause aching joints, tummy pain and extreme tiredness. So it’s difficult to know which drug might be causing the symptoms you describe.
As @laneycass suggests, we would encourage you to contact your treatment team who can fully assess you and advise on things that might help.
As letrozole might be contributing to your aching joints, regular pain relief and regular exercise such as walking may help to relieve pain and joint stiffness for some people. Others find that complementary therapies such as acupuncture can help. These 5 commonly asked questions about joint pain and hormone therapy may also be of interest to you.
