Kadcyla Side Effects & Experience

Hi!!! I am due to start first cycle of Kadcyla on Tuesday 19th Nov post mastectomy. I already had 4 rounds of EC and 4 of Docetaxel but residual cells mean I need to now have 14 rounds of the Kadcyla.
I’ve heard mixed things about the side effects. My Oncologist assures me it is nowhere near as bad as the other chemo drugs I had (from which I felt very very unwell) and that the main side effects are some fatigue and bone/joint pain.
Come here to get honest opinions from people who have been on Kadcyla pls re how they felt and if you were unwell for how long etc? I just want to try and prepare myself for what is to come as I’m still trying to work through all of this! I know everyone responds differently but would appreciate some feedback!

Hi @heartofhope , sorry you haven’t had a response to your post yet . I know there are other people on the forum who have experience of this treatment hopefully someone will be along soon to share their experiences .Good luck with your first treatment .

Thanks Jill! Yes hopefully! I could really do with some support from the community! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Maybe try posting on this thread Kadcyla for early stage primary where disease free

I will be having my 5th Kadcyla on Thursday.
Had 18 paclitaxol, lumpectomy and breast reduction,2nd surgery for margins. Covid!!!
Then Kadcyla and 15 radio.
I have been pretty good really, some aches and pains and burning to the front of my legs. I’m on a low dose 30mg Duloxatine to help with that.
The fatigue though is pretty bad, I was diagnosed last November so I suppose it’s cumulative.
I’m also having a bit of a thing with my heart which has gone from 69% to 63% and now 50-55% on the echo so they are keeping an eye on it.
You will have started now, I was very anxious about going on the chemo wards again but it wasn’t so bad.
Hope you are doing ok.
I have found the breast group at Maggies invaluable there is always some good advice there
Good luck, let me know how you are doing

Oh and definitely not as bad as first chemo!

Hi Ali! Thank you so much for responding I really appreciate it. Glad to hear it’s not quite as bad - I think the fatigue will be a big one for me too as I always seem to suffer badly with that. I’ve had just one Kadcyla so far as I had to have a break for 3 weeks of radiotherapy but will be back for my next Kadcyla on 31st! Happy New Year haha!
Can I ask what the group is at Maggie’s? Not heard about this - do you have a link pls? Thanks so much!
