Kadcyla side effects

Am on 3rd dose (reduced this time) but it is still absolutely flooring me for about 3 days , 3 days after the treatment.Flu like symptoms with pains in my kidney and liver area ,bone ache, dizziness and fatigue. leaving me very tired for the rest of the time before the next one.
Is this a normal reaction ? Really not sure if I can get through another 11 doses , actually feel like it’s killing me.

Hello bella68

Thanks for posting.

This sounds a really difficult time.

Side effects from treatments like Kadcyla do vary from person to person. Fatigue is a common side effect.

It sounds as if your treatment team have been aware of how you are feeling as you mention a reduced dose. Do let them know how you are still affected. They can find ways to help manage these for future treatments, if you continue or decide the best way going forward.

Although everyone’s experience can be different, it might help to connect with other women who have been on Kadcyla. You can do this through this section of our forums. We also have chemotherapy monthly threads for those going through treatment at the same time. Details of all our services can be found here

Do call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to more support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, (Relay UK -prefix 18001).

If you would prefer one of our nurses to call you. To do this complete this form ticking the box agreeing to a call back.
