Hi all,
Due to start kadcyla. Oncologist tells me it’s nothing compared to what I’ve been through with minimal side affects.
Im desperate to get my “old life back”. I used to swim a couple of times a week but stopped for chemo. Oncologist still says she’d advise against swimming on kadcyla but I’m considering taking a “risk” for my overall wellbeing & fitness.
Anyone swam on kadcyla with no repercussions?
Thanks in advance
Hello, I’m on Kadcyla, as part of a 10+ year time living with secondaries. I haven’t swum with it but would.
I guess the main thing is to be aware of low immunity, particularly days 7-10 & be cautious if your nasal passages are damaged, scabbing etc. Ask for Nasceptin cream if it’s infected, Vaseline’s useful for protecting it too.
Thanks so much for your reply & tips. Didn’t realise about days 7-10 so that’s really good to know. Thank you.
Hope treatment is going well for you.
Thanks again
Hi …I’m curious to know how you got on …did you swim while on Kadcyla and did you get any side effects?
I’m about to start Kadcyla …I swam with my previous chemo (Docetaxel and Carboplatin ) without any issues …if anything it helped with nausia …I always felt better after a swim. But I’ve had a few surgeries and had to stop swimming and running for a number of weeks since so my body doesn’t feel as strong as it did when I started my last chemo. Keen to get going again
