Karen

I lost my good friend Karen to secondary breast cancer 3 years ago. We attended Embroidery classes at Coolege, she had a hard time with the chemo, so in her memory I would love to make a donation from my embroidery sales in my Folksy shop, to help patients. My ladies in my Knitting club knit chemo hats for our Cancer Care Centre in Bradford where Karen was a volunteer I went there with some chemo hats my ladies had knitted, I asked to see Karen but was totally shocked when I was told she had lost her fight. The Nurse took me to a side room and gave me a cuppa, she said I had gone very pale.

I miss Karen very much.she was very poorly I guess it was time to join her Father. I them peace.

Dear Kniterrella5

I am sorry to hear of the shock you felt at the loss of your friend.

There is a special thread open today for everyone and anyone to share their thoughts and memories of those they have held dear but who have now died.

There is also a special Live Chat between 2-3 this afternoon to offer a more private space for anyone that wishes it.

Wishing you peace

Anna

Hi kniterella,

I realise this is quite an old post, but the pain of losing someone because of BC can stay quite raw for a long time, so wanted to reply.

I wondered if you have heard of knitted knockers? It is a charity where volunteer knitters and crocheters make lovely, soft, light prosthesis for those of us who have had a mastectomy. If you are interested you can find out more by visiting www.knittedknockersuk.com  There is also a facebook page

and one to join if you choose to become a volunteer knitter.

which is a closed group. If you are interested, it might be another way to honour your friend Karen.

Sending hugs,
