I also have written to Asda, I have also tonight through Cypus 44 Forum asked all my friends who have family and friends with BC here or there to complain. I think if we do not get a positive response with e-mails etc then we should get together outside various Asda stores and let the public know how we really feel. BC is not pink nor fluffy ,and ,I am scratchy itchy but that is due to rads not to being TICKLED PINK!!!
OMG my nails are most definately out tonight and sharp.
Lets go people and I mean the males as well, cause that is another reason it should not be PINK, although predominately female lots of males are also hit by this c–p.
Ranting again, but it is sincere.
Irene
Like Janeyb I wondered if BCC could let Asda know how some of us feel about Katie Price promoting Tickled Pink?
The money raised from Tickled Pink go to both BCC and (I think) Breast Cancer Campaign.
Love Belinda…x
PS…just googling on the net, ‘Tickled Pink Katie Price’ and up popped this mumsnet discussion…
mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/829247-ASDA-tickled-pink-campaign-and-Katie-Price
I’d like to think I’d still feel the same about Asda using KP to promote Tickled Pink if I’d never ever been diagnosed… I found it a bit depressing others just don’t see where it might have been a tad insensitive to use Katie Price.
Thank you to the posters on the mumsnet thread that do understand, completely…x
Hi everyone
Belinda, thanks for posting that - I had a quick look.
It’s sad really how some people just can’t see the whole issue of how the choice of KP (especially her crass comments, ‘I don’t think the public need to see my pot belly and scarred tits’) could possibly offend. Maybe they just haven’t been there so don’t see the problem. What annoys me about some of the posters on ‘mumsnet’ is that one or two of the posters seem to think the negative issue is because we disapprove of ‘boob jobs’ and as for the person who wrote … ‘Don’t breast cancer patients have breast restructure?’ (their spelling!). Unbelievable! What, so now we should feel more bonded to KP as we’ve had ‘boob jobs’ too? - Yeah, real vain lot we are!!!
OK, I’ll go back to bed and get out the other side!! Lots of love x
Dear All
Just to let you know that we have passed on your comments to the fundraising team which have contact with Asda.
Best wishes
Poppy
Thanks Poppy - just wondering do BCC have any influence over the choice ASDA make, is there any consultation process, or is it solely ASDA’s decision. As is apparent there is strong feeling about the selection of Katie Price as the face of breast cancer (well ASDA’s anyway), do BCC just accept the money regardless from whence it came.
I have emailed ASDA to enquire as to what percentage of the purchases does she give 100% and has no profit herself? If that was the case then at least bcc is getting the benefit and not her , but I dubt this very much …as for reconstruction I got the same comment in work yesterday …" well you have had a boob job so whats the difference ?" I just looked it was a man may I add …I couldnt even be bothered to go there …the utter ignorance and insensitivity towards mastectomy never ceses to amaze me …you get bc…you cut it off voila you get a boob job …happy days ???
Yeah sounds right dont it ladies? mmmmmmmmmmmmm?
All I have left of the skilled surgery for mastectomy and neat scar of my lost breast is a load of weeping sores pink, red bleeding smelly open wounds which will never heal. Mine is an extreme case of what can happen when breast cancer spreads regionally, but it does happen and it is happening to me right now. I weep with all the anger in the world when I read of Katie Price’s crass intervention. This is awful.

I have just left a message on the answerphone of the marketing dept to complain about their decision to have Katie Price represent us breast cancer sufferers told them how disgusting it is and left my phone number. Join me and give them a call 01132435435.
Love Debsxxx
there is a facebook group - katie price as tickled pink - crazda. I feel so cross about this - it just feels as if asda has no respect for us… we are just there for them to be altruistic to
Hi All,
Think I’ll save my energy to have a good rant at Asda instead of venting here……in the meantime here’s a suggestion of how they might redeem themselves: why not replace Katie Price with someone far more dignified and interesting, like this lady, Pamina Brassey……
…and maybe someone from Asda could come on here and explain just what the hell they were thinking when thay made the decision to make use of such an inappropriate celebrity for their campaign?
Hi everyone,
I’m so sorry some of you feel so strongly about Katie Price. She is just one of many celebrities who are helping to raise awareness of the campaign.
She gives her time for free, we don’t pay her and she is very kindly donating £30, 000 of her own money to the charity and we are extremely grateful for this.
Over the past 13 years, Asda has raised over £20million for Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care thanks to the continued support of customers, Asda colleague and a host of celebrities.
Katie may not have suffered with breast cancer herself but a close family friend has and this is her way of showing her support.
Thanks,
Leah, PR Manager, George at Asda
Hi All,
Ive just sent an email to asda so far its gone through is there no way we can start a petition i dont know how its done does anyone else?
Take Care

Hi
I have e-mailed both the Daily Mail and the Sun who seem to ‘favour Kstie Price’…with no response… what do we do to get this brought to the attention of the media.,
Spelling…Katie Price.
Hello everyone,
Read this with interest and fired off an email straight away to the address given.
But as i was taking the time to write a complaint I told them ts not just the inappropriate celebrity I am angry about, its the totally inappropriate name. There is nothing remotely funny about BC and yet they come up with tickled pink?? I suppose they expect us poor sufferers to be grateful for their help.
I have seen many similar feelings about this on this website in the past so I know i am not alone. Where do they find a cohort of BC sufferers who are happy for it to be portrayed as such?
Rant over.
Linda
Hi all …just had a response from the PR manager for asda … "she is sorry that I feel so strongly about their choice of celebrity for their campaign a decision that they didnt take lightly and thought long and hard about it ,a lot of people love KP but are aware that she is not everyone’s choice .although she has not suffered herself she has a friend who has and they feel that she is a worthy ambassador and more people will donate because of her,she has donated 30k of her sales and ASDA have raised over 20 million over the years for BCC feel she is a good choice and is dedicated to the cause "
Still leaves a bad taste in my mouth ,but dont think we are gonna get anywhere with this one …she is like marmite !
Hi Mazaroo,
I have just read what the PR manager replied to you. That sucks!!!
Everyone and I mean everyone has a friend with breast cancer and there are probably hundreds of other Zlist celebs that would kill for this gig and willingly donate 30 grand to raise their profile.
I dont have any real feelings either way about Katie Price as a person. What I object to is her profile being associated with Breast cancer. It really is portraying BC as a pink and fluffy disease for big boobed women.
You are right in that we are probably going to get nowhere and it does leave an extremely nasty taste in the mouth.
Linda
Continued
Unfortunately …I dont think that people realise the devastation of being diagnosed with BC ,losing a breast and coping with all the c**p that it brings…the public love KP for some inexplicable reason
and she is a media darling ,So I really dont think we can cahnge anything but I gave it my bestshot .

Have just phoned the Asda line - no answering machine - so can’t leave a message. Will write.
it is clear when ‘they thought long and hard about it’ - they knew this was going to be a controversial choice - well here comes the controversy!
