Katie Price / Tickled Pink Campaign

Hi,
I would just like to say I am not anti Katie Price and I feel the break up of any marriage is very very sad. More so in this case as 3 young children are now from a split marriage. Katie is and has provided a good life for her children with financial stability, she has done what she can, when she can, how she can. This is no mean fete. She is of the generation who say it as they see it sometimes without thinking. I wish her well I just did not like the remarks that she made.
BCC and Asda must have had several discussions before deciding she was the one in fact Leah a few days ago had a different opinion until late yesterday when they realized they may have to explain themselves on Breakfast t.v. Trust me Asda are making money from all of this and that is what they do.
After losing so many cyber friends from this forum this year alone I decided to take no prisoners our friends have lost their lives to this disease I will not let them lose their voice.

Hi Debs…have sent you a PM…x
For me it’s the whole nature of the Asda campaign and BCC’s lack of input in it. I don’t follow Katie Price’s programmes although I know about her recent marriage break up as it’s all over the press and news. I have absolutely no unkind thoughts about her and I hope she finds lasting happiness in her life.

Dear All

I would also like to add that I’m not a ‘Katie hater’ either - I dont’ feel strongly either way. She is who she is and does what she does. Glamour modelling and boobs are very much her ‘thing’ and quite frankly I don’t have the energy or interest to judge her personal life. But I do have a fire in my belly when carelessless and crassness affect and upset to many.

For me, this was never just about Katie. What disgusted me was the use of someone who was famous for her enlarged breasts and clearly enjoys showing them and providing many raunchy camera shots. Good luck to her on, say, lads mags etc; although not my choice, there will always is a market for titilation and this is the appropriate place to use a celebrity like Katie but never in a serious BC campaign.

What I could not stand back and watch (along with others), was the hurt and humiliation (as if they haven’t enough to go through) of the 1000’s of women with this disease, being represented by a totally irrelevant celebrity choice in such a disrespectful and jokey manner.

The latest outcome is proof that we should ALWAYS speak up (not just for ourselves but others too). It IS worth the effort and ASDA have taken note thanks to the efforts of everyone involved (and there is a certain lady who definately needs a mention (will do on Monday!) OK, it would have been nice if it hadn’t happened in the 1st place but it did, we reacted … and it stopped … if that isn’t the power of voices, what is?!!

Congratulations to all of us (and not forgetting thanks to Debsy for starting this thread and Debs in Cornwall for taking things further). Lots of love. Cathy xx

Yes, well said Cathy, Good Luck to everyone taking part on the programme…I’m looking forward to seeing it…Have a good weekend all…xx

OMG, this thread sure has been moving & shaking since I last looked in on it.
All I can say is Right On!

Just like to say that I second what you’ve just posted Cathy.
Debbie, so glad you started the whole ball rolling. & Debs I’ll be tuning in to BBC news on Monday morning. You all Rock!

Well done everyone involved and Debs, you go girl!

Take care x

Quote from the Sun … Last night Sharon Adams, who had campaigned for Price to be dropped by Asda, said: “That is excellent news. Now we would like Price to donate some of the huge profits she makes from her lingerie range in Asda to breast cancer awareness.” I piggin hope she puts her hand in her pocket as well. the fact that only a £1 per item goes to (any) charity rubs me up the wrong way to start with; profits (it seems) comes first and foremost these days!

I have read this thread with extreme interest - today!

I have to agree with you all that KP is NOT a good advocate for a charity linked with BC and am appalled that BCC have taken so long to respond sensibly to the posts on this thread. The tippy-toe approach has only instigated further annoyance from BC girls. Debs’ good on yer girl! given that (normally) there is only one 6.30 in the day for me, i will make an exeption for you - given that you have made the effort on our behalf - to get up that early.

WOW

Before I started this thread I really hoped it wouldn’t turn into one of the hate pink or hate celebrities threads. I do appreciate why we have pink month, to me its about awareness, not peronsal or big superstores profits and commercial greed without thought or consideration to the feelings of those directly effected. I never in a million years expected this outcome, result and response.

I still feel strongly that BCC be more accountable on how their fundraising is promoted.

Sod the “tickled pink” logo , Go Girl Power and Together we Stand!!!

I am so proud of all of us who contributed!!!

Debbie XXX

ps Debs I too will get up extra early Monday morning…

Well done on this and perhaps this listening skill is worth teaching elsewhere too.

I am so respectful of you all and 4 months in on BC I hope that I have the tenacity, dignity and good humour that you share with others.

I have been dealing with a personal problem today and am quiet on site and FB but all thoughts are still with the fighting crew of the BCC. Without you all I dont know where I and many others would be.

Thank you.

WOW!!

it has taken me ages to read all this thread, how amazing you all are. i’m living in a little bubble at the moment having just gone back to work after reconstruction and we are without tv too… so missed all this.

i love you all and feel like i belong to a truly awesome sisterhood… not of my choosing, would never choose to walk this way but as i have i couldn’t have chosen anyone better than all of you to share my journey with - thank you.

debsincornwall you are our heroine i can’t think of a more worthy representative. will be thinking of you tomorrow as they film, you have done the right thing.

i’m on my way to bed with a smile on my face as i think of how you have all made a differance,

Is there anything that we can do to finally consign the “tickled pink” rubbish to the dustbin where it belongs?

I absolutely think that it has run its’ dismal (spell?) course.

I dread October - was first diagnosed then. The campaign is gross.

Well, don’t often join in, but felt I had to.

I have been reading through this thread and I am most impressed by everyone who has contributed. Well done to you all. This is a great achievement. I will be up early on Monday morning to watch the BBC. Good luck Debs.

The power of a body of people like this deserves to be heard and changes must surely be made. ‘Tickled Pink’ is wholly inappropriate as a Breast cancer campaign. It’s tasteless. And I fail to understand how anybody could have felt KP suitable to front the campaign. I’m indifferent to her in general, but she is so totally wrong for anything to do with breast cancer. I haven’t seen the advert or campaign or programme, and have no desire to. I will go into my local Asda and fill out a complaint form, and will email them.
Good luck with the BBC, Debs. You will represent the women here superbly.

Asda are such fools, there is enough controversy over KP. That aside, who dreamed this up??? I am so proud of you all, I have only nust read through the posts. This fluffy pink stuff has been botehring me for a while. We don’t feel fluffy and pink. The whole journey through Breast Cancer involves families and friends. It is the complete misunderstanding that just gets in the way with organisations such as ASDA. Hopefully next year they will meet and consult with Breast Cancer sufferers. Good luck to Debs, we are all behind you, you are one b rave lady. Bless you xx

Well done Debs, we are SO lucky to have someone like you to speak for us.

Good luck today, we are all rooting for you!!

Take care,

Love Janx

Thank you everyone lets hope we get rid of “Tickled Pink” once and for all!
We all appreciate the money that is raised but at what price?
Love Debsxxx

KATIE PRICE HAS BEEN DROPPED FROM TICKLED PINK WOOOOOOOOOOP !!
well done everyone that emailed them xxxx

Fantastic news well done everyone and Debs I’ll for one will be tuning in on monday good luck everyone and take care

Leslee x

well done Debs! will be watching tomorrow morning! x

i still have concerns that, although KP has been dropped from any photographic ad’s that neither Asda nor BCC have confirmed that she has been dropped from the campaign as a whole.

i am sick and tired of the whole pink n fluffy image BC has, although it is meant to make women aware, i really feel that the real reason behind ‘October’ is slowly disappearing and, after 12yrs, is more about profit making than anything else.

the entire genre of the month needs to be readdressed, once and for all !!!
