Dear Debs a simple thank you honey! I’ll be watching. xxxx Mummy Txxx
p.s I had text messages flying to tell me about your TV appearence Ta Hollymeg xxxx
Been reading through this thread. You’re all amazing.
I too have no issues with Katie Price herself - what she does is up to her - but what a thoughtless, inappropriate choice for Asda to have made to have her represent a serious issue when she has made a career out of flaunting and enhancing her breasts. I can’t quite visualise the meeting in which it was decided and can’t help thinking that it was rather taking the proverbial!
Anyway sterling work everybody and want to wish DebsinCornwall all the best for Breakfast tomorrow. Good on you Debs. Am so proud of you and what you’re doing despite feeling so poorly yourself.
Love to you all x
just seen the first part on BBC,looking forward to later on …debs and sharon good on you ,speaking for thousands of us …hope KP now donates a shed load more of money to save face .!!! every cloud eh ?

Well I set my alarm and I did get up to watch this. After all the effort Debs has put in, it was the least I could do and to be honest I felt BCC’s apologies (Diana Jupp appeared) sounded very hollow. Full of sorry that members here were upset by events was not enough for me. It would have been more convincing if she had said BCC got it wrong! Totally and utterly wrong. Insensitive and thoughtless would have convinced me more of their regrets. Well done Debs & Sharon (are you here?). Back to bed - I need my sleep (only had 3 hrs so far).
Dawn
Well done, Debs!
You made the points about Katie Price and the whole campaign firmly, forcefully and calmly - thank you. Sharon Adams was also a strong interviewee. The BCC interview wasn’t so good, with quite a bit of evasion, and left me still wondering just where they stand on this issue.
Well Done Debs!! Brilliant…and you got in the Tickled Pink name issue too! Sharon…well done too…looking forward to seeing Cathy at 8.20 now.
Diana Jupp looked most uncomfortable and I am SO disappointed with the whole BCC approach. BCC you have now made it perfectly clear it’s all about the MONEY…no matter where and how it’s raised it sometimes seems.
Yes, Debs – you did really well, especially your statement that no one in your family was “tickled pink” when you told them you were going to die of BC! And you and Sharon were both crystal clear about why ASDA shouldn’t have used KP. Like Dawn, Eliza & Belinda, I was disappointed that the BCC representative only managed to look vaguely embarrassed that their service-users had objected to KP’s involvement, without really addressing the issues or giving any commitment to be more careful/thoughtful/influential with ASDA (and other “pink” funders) in the future.
Looking forward to watching the next part of this report at 8.20.

Well done Debs and Sharon and the BBC. I thought those interviews really got the point across strongly. You have done so well both of you - in representing us all. A big thank you.

I just also caught a section on radio 5 live with the BCC rep and someone off here… (sorry i never caught your name as i turned the radio on after the item started…) which was also very good and interesting…
The BCC rep said they were pleased all of this had happened as it meant there could now be a discussion on this whole area… shame really that it took so long last week to have a comment off BCC and then it just said there would be a comment the next day… And when that comment appeared the next day from the press office it didn’t really seem to address our concerns…
Theresa
Not sure what to make of BBC slot, switched when it had started. Not particularly impressed with BCC rep. Will have to watch it later, are ITV covering this as well?
It’s very interesting to see them all squirm, and look all embaressed at the mention of breasts!
Well done Debs! for taking it to them
Julia
Debs and Sharon so proud of you!!
Dee
i only saw the second one at 8.20… (OH didn’t wake me up for the 1st!) but was so proud of all 3 of you… well done debs you got the bbc there and sharon and cathy brill you have made our point very clear… thank you,
lenny
xxxx
well done Debs - you really got the point over very well.
far too many people are still dying of this disease and the whole ‘tickled pink’ thing is in poor taste.
Thank you for speaking out
cheers
caroline
well done debs and sharon, only saw the 8:20 slot sorry wasn’t up early enough for the other one, but you certainly got the point over!
You both looked great too! thanks for speaking for us all, love debs xx
You were all fabulous! Wow so articulate and clear! Well done ladies - Now I’m going back to bed! 6.30 is just too early LOL xxxx
Well done all of you.
Thank you for speaking out GREAT.
love Jackie xx
I too only saw the 8:20 slot but thought the message came through loud and clear. And Debs, you looked so beautiful - no slipping scarf a far as I could see!
I hope BCC that the apology was sincerely meant and that changes will therefore happen. I for one am more than happy to meet with you to talk about why many of us are so upset about “Pink October” in general. I am fully aware that fundraising has to take place and I am grateful for the services provided (eg this forum) BUT for me bc often appears to be trivialised as part of that fundraising message. This (particularly as someone with mets who will die of bc) is very offensive and distressing. Please let us know, BCC, what your next step is going to be and how you are going to seek the views of your “service users” so that this issue can indeed be addressed properly.
And - once again - thanks to all those who spoke out.
Kay
Fundraising is always difficult if you are not a “cuddly cause” (i.e children & animals) and I wonder if the silly pink fluffy and the Carry On type campaigns are a misguided attempt to overcome that difficulty. But perhaps it would be better to look to the example of some of the HIV/AIDS charities, who manage to mount dignified campaigns with appropriate celebrities. With breast cancer affecting so many women as well as some men there must be plenty of appropriate people who would give their support to a dignified campaign.
What has been particularly worrying about this fiasco is that BCC has not acknowledged the inappropriateness. Just saying - yes, on reflection, this was not the appropriate way to go about it - would be a good start to moving on.

My fab man has just phoned me on his way to swansea (he was listening to Radio 2 and debs you were on there too) and he said I have to tell you all how proud of you he is for speaking out and how disgusted that KP was chosen in the first place, but he hopes that now all charities involved with us and BC will be listening to our views and those of the relatives affected by BC.
We also said how sad it was that KP only raised 16K last year for BCC whenmy fab man and his four raised 4K last month by shaving their heads, our friends Mrs Foxy also raised 2K by holding a sale, and Lisa the author of Alright Tit has raised 9K by holding a birthday auction. if non celebs can raise thousands then the 16K from Ms Kp isn’t such a big deal compared to what we can do on our own. xxxx
