Hi all, i recently found a support group called Keeping Abreast which is a nation wide charity set up by ladies who have been through bc.
They meet every 6 weeks ago at the hospital. The meeting is attended by people at all stages of diagnosis and recovery, and gives you a chance to meet people who have had different treatments. Most are also willing to show you their scars and results.
Just thought this may be useful for those trying to decide on reconstruction xx
Thank you for sharing this with the Forum community. Would you be able to email moderator@breastcancercare.org.uk with a link and details of the group? I would like to share this with our Helpline as a potential source of support.
Hi riversidedawn - I’d like to add my thanks to you too for sharing this. I had a look at the website and it looks excellent. Unfortunately there isn’t a group near me - but hopefully the charity will continue to grow and cover the whole country. xx
Of course. I think I’ve seen on here some other similar groups. It was a great evening, you can turn up once to get advice and see results or, like the majority, treat it as a regular club.
This group is fantastic and it was through this group I decided to go ahead with my reconstruction after going to one of their show and tell evenings. After my surgery they even produced little goodie bags with a pillow and drain bag to make life more comfortable.
