Hi, first time ever writing here. Just diagnosed with stage 1 DCIS. I am being really positive but also I am really really scared. Lumpectomy next Monday, hormone treatment and radiotherapy definite chemo ? Have not yet even shed a tear. Trying to be brave for husband and my children. But when I think of it I nearly can’t breath with fright. No cancer in either my parents side so it was a shock. One thing I do know is I will get better, even if I am scared. I am so so lucky to have gone for a 2nd mammograme ( free from work) just 4 months after one showed clear , cos the 2nd one spotted the cancer. I am so so lucky.

Hi Gena
Sorry to hear your news.I was diagnosed with BC in May had lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy…post op showed stage 1 nodes clear .I had 15 rounds of rads and in fact had my last one yesterday and now on Tamoxifen for 5 years. It is a very scary time the waiting is the worst…I can honestly say for me the surgery wasn’t as bad as I expected but I strongly agree that its really important to do all the excersices after your op.This forum is really great and has answered lots of my questions I think it helps to chat to peolple going through the same thing. There’s some amazing posts on here which have been very inspiring and uplifting.
I would like to wish you all the very best of luck with your op and please let us know how your getting on
Sending a big hug

Hi Gina
I had WLE and ANC at the beginning of July for grade 2 IDC so now just starting chemo. My story is a little different to yours but a friend of mine had a 4cm DCIS, grade 1 some three years ago and has undergone mastectomy, implants, tissue expanders and reconstruction. She has coped with it brilliantly and I admire her strength. She helped me deal with my worries. Its good to share your thoughts and this forum will do that.
Love and hugs to you
