Latest Ribociclib Approval by NICE for use on the NHS

Hi,
I’m currently taking Ribo privately with Letrozole.
I have looked at the final guidance published by NICE this July which appears to be different to the last news statement made by BCN in April 2025.
I had primary, Hormone +, HER2 -, Grade 3, genomic 25%, Node -ve.
Initially NICE only approved Ribo for use on the NHS for primary adjuvant therapy if there was node involvement.
Following various parties intervention and looking at the recent guidance publications, can you confirm that NICE have now approved the use of Ribo on the NHS for primary adjuvant therapy, regardless of node involvement, providing the primary tumour stats where ‘aggressive’ (which mine were)?
I would like to now, in case I end up going back into the NHS.
Many thanks.

Hello siovas

Thank you for posting.

It’s understandable that you would like to know whether you would be eligible to continue adjuvant ribociclib if you were to return to NHS care.

We do not know where in the UK you live. NICE approval covers England, but adjuvant ribociclib is not yet available in the rest of the UK. Wales and Northern Ireland usually follow NICE decisions. We expect the SMC will consider adjuvant ribociclib for use in Scotland shortly.

Following the announcement in April this year NICE has now updated it’s recommendation for adjuvant ribociclib, to include the full population of high-risk primary breast cancer patients who could benefit from this treatment. People who are node negative but are considered to be in a high genomic risk group are defined as high risk and would now be included in the population group.

It often takes some time for new recommendations to be implemented in hospital clinics. However, It may be helpful to talk to your current treatment team about the possibility of you being able to access your treatment on the NHS.

We offer a range of free supportive services for anyone who has had a diagnosis of breast cancer which you may be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.
