Hello everyone
Has any of you ladies had a lattissimus Dorsi muscle used for breast reconstruction and then later had the muscle taken away? I’m due to have mine removed because I’ve been in a lot of pain ever since I had this op 5 1/2 years ago. My surgeon suggested taking it away this week and would like to hear from any ladies, who may have gone through the same , to see if it helped them or if it made matters worse.

Sadly, I haven’t, sorry. But what has he proposed to replace it with? Tissue from elsewhere on your body, or by some other means? Though I can’t think what that could be other than nothing there. Have you another appointment to discuss what other options you have?
I would have thought, if it’s the source and cause of your discomfort, it can only feel better to have it removed. Also, have you been told exactly what it may be that’s happening or has happened to cause the discomfort, and that removal is necessary, without any possible form of surgical modification or correction to what’s already there??
I feel sad for you, Kullboys, if not, because it’s a very complicated and lengthy op to have been through and recovered from.

Hi Kullboys, I haven’t had mine removed but have severe tightness and discomfort after this operation which is coming up a year since surgery. I’m doing Pilates, acupuncture, Physio but awful tightness still persists. I would be interested to hear from anyone else that has had this problem and any advice how to help. I had a bilateral Latissimus Dorsi. Due to see my surgeon in a few weeks so will see what he says. I hope you find someone that has had theirs removed and can offer you some positive news.
