Laughter wellness

Hello everyone,
I’m looking for different ways to reduce my stress/ fear of recurrence and have just found out about laughter yoga? Has anyone tried this?
Was also wondering about reading some funny books, the sort that make one laugh out loud. Can anyone recommend some very funny books that might fit the bill and help to take me out of myself?
Love Tulip x

Hi, laughter yoga sounds fabulous. Thanks for bringing it to my attention! As for books, we are different but I like Dawn French, Ruth Jones and Terry Pratchet. I find watching old black and white films distracting too! Sending love. X

I am quite new to yoga and have been surprised how tricky and complex it is. The class is often in laughter as we all, at somepoint, lose our balance or fall in a complex posture. I would definitely recommend yoga for all round physical and emotional well-being, and a good laugh now and again.

Hi @shirleya , thanks ever so much for your suggestions much appreciated. I will check them out. I had no idea that Ruth Jones of Dawn French had written books.
I can recommend anything by Sue Townsend, especially Adran Mole, and The Queen and I. Also PG Wodehouse and Spike Milligan.
As well as for my own benefit, I noticed that my local cancer support centre has a little empty shelf space in their reception room so thought it might be an idea to start a laughter library.
Hope some more people will post with their own suggestions.
Found some laughter yoga videos online to try out. Fortunately I live alone so no-one can hear me making silly noises! X

You make all the noises you want. I also find breaking wind and yoga go together which I find hilarious unless the culprit is me. :joy:

Hi Tulip, I haven’t any experience with the yoga but did enjoy reading some of Bill Bryson’s books of his travel adventures, Notes From a Small Island and a Walk in the Woods are a good start x

Hi @Tulip29

Any of the Why Mummy series by Gill Sims. They make me ROFL. Make me cry too once in a blue moon - more from the 100% spot on description of events than the actual story - rather therapeutic tbh.

On holiday last year, I was killing myself laughing pool side as I read Why Mummy Drinks On Holiday (the latest one). The friend I was with kept asking me why but there was only one part that I could read out loud because the rest had to be taken in context. She was howling. We were walking along the prom one evening when a woman smiled at us and then she came up and asking what I was reading as she’d heard my laughing for a few days and said it was lovely to hear somebody so happy.

The 1st 3 books should really be read in order then the rest in any order. I have stuck to the order religiously as I was an early adopter.

Enjoy!

Thank you @Gelbel these books are new to me! Will definately be checking ot x
