Have just rung hospital,going into ward on Monday.Have a leak ouzing out of one breast.Had DIEP 3 weeks ago.Anyone else have this??? If so,what did they do?
I have this too - had surgery on 21st August. Not much fluid but definitely there. I’ve been told it is where my body is trying to reject one of the disolvable stitches. It’s an abscess but sort of normal. I’ve also got a sticky open area in one patch of my tummy scar too. Mine oozing started 3 weeks after surgery too (I’m now four weeks). It’s still going on a bit but they don’t seem to be worried. I’ve been told to look out for redness and for the fluid to change from clear (yellowy) to red or disgusting. If that happens I’ve to go straight in to A&E if no plastics clinic running.
I’ve got lots of dressings on prescription and bought some of that expensiveAquacel stuff to put on the actual open bit of the wound. I clean it with antiseptic wound wipes first. I was leaving the dressings in place but I get so desparate for a shower I then asked if I could do them at home, so I do now and only go in to plastics dept once a week and my GP nurse checks once a week too.
I hope you get some reassurance Jilly - are you pleased with your new boob? Takes some getting used to doesn’t it!
