Hi all had first lot of taxol and carboplatin wed no real se just today legs aching like he’ll tried hot water bottle and pain killers not much help any tips be nice Laura
hi laura,
i had a lot of aches on taxol, but found that now i have finished it my legs ache more, they feel heavy as lead, just rest as much as you can and take painkillers, unfortunately it is one of the many ses and there isnt much else you can do, if you can try walking around a bit that seems to help mine, even just walking round the house, i find the stairs are a bit of a mission and my legs ache when i get to the top,
good luck,
sending you lots of love liz xxx
Hi Laura64, my legs feel like lead too on some days but not as bad as yours. I find that moving around as much as possible like Elisabethtracey helps. I have to say that when get to the top of the stairs, I know I have been climbing, but I do try and do this as many times as possible throughout the day. Keep moving for me is the answer. I notice you are also on another drug so it could be a combination. I have just completed number 5 with 7 more to go. Good luck. Adi
hi adi how many tax are you having? at what dose
love liz xxx
Not so much pain, rather a heavy, dragging sensation for me. Plus occasional bouts of cramping too.
Hi Elizabethtracey, I am having 12 weekly Taxols. I really don’t know what dose! I presumed it was all subject to how much you weigh. An awful lot at the moment! Weight is piling on weekly unfortunately and have never been this heavy. Have you experienced great weight gain on Taxol? Had 3 FEC and yes put on weight with that but not as much as now. Adi
Hi ladies
I’ve done 6 out of 9 taxol and like you have had achy (and very twitchy) legs.
Have any of you had a really bloody nose? Its not a nose bleed but when I blow my nose its guaranteed to be really bloody.
My Onc nurse says its OK but I haven’t heard anyone else mention this.
Adi - like you I understood taxol dose was based on weight, but I’d be interested to find out if there are different doses.
Hope everyone has a good weekend

hi adi,
yep i have gained 3 stones on tax, some of it is due to the steroids too, at least i think so lol,
carnt be bothered to diet at the moment and i have lost 4lbs without even trying since finishing tax,
i havent much of an appetite and i am having to make a real effort to eat,
all the best love liz xxx
my weight gain is similar to yours liz. I finished tax 2 weeks ago. Had 16 out of 18 weekly ones. about to have another sort of chemo next week. Feel not quite so tired now though, but still have to pace myself!
Morning Ladies. linda999, I also had nose bleeds up until this one, maybe they have calmed down a bit, I actually had major ones not just when blowing nose.
Elizabethtracey, well done for losing 4lb rather off than on. I have a large appetite two days following treatment and then it calms down, but don’t want to diet as conscious that my body needs to repair and can’t do that without good food!
Cromercrab looks like we are all going to be heading for a 3 stone weight gain. A friend of mine had treatment about 15 years ago and she put on 3 stone, so have prepared myself but hate it, as nothing fits and don’t want to buy clothes in the next size. My friend has since lost all her weight and more and looks amazing bearing in mind she is now that much older too.
Legs very achy and heavy ladies so it seems to be the biggest SE on Taxols. Have a lovely Sunday. Adi x
hi adi,
i feel like a beached whale, lol,
i do care, but i dont if that makes sense, just glad to be here, i will worry about the flab later,
my aches and pains are bad today, i feel about 90 but what the heck, i dont mind hobbling.
it looks like it may rain, but i wont let it dampen my spirits, have a good day and keep smilin,
lots of love liz xxxx
Well its a good job I weigh as much as I do - I’ve just tried stepping outside and nearly took off in the wind - its horrendous (I hope my house will remain standing)

Thanks for the update on the bloody nose - its one less thing to worry about knowing its not just me (Its so easy to get paranoid about every little thing - this site is so so useful)
Hope everyone got thru their weekend without too many aches and pains

I’ve now developed and really horse voice south mouth why is it docs go oh u shouldn’t get them se well a I have
I’m afraid to say that I finished my Tax x 3 18 days ago and my legs are so bad (very weak and painful) that I’m having to use a walking stick. I feel as though I’ve just climbed Everest. Not what I’d expected at 45! They aren’t showing any sign of improvement yet and I’m thorougly fed up of it. I have to rest several times when I go up the stairs but walking on the flat isn’t as bad. My arms are also very weak.
I’m also retaining loads of fluid and my legs are horribly swollen by the end of the day despite keeping them up as much as possible. I’ve only put on about a stone though and I’m hoping at least some of that is water.
I also still have a rotten sense of taste and my nose is still bleeding. Oh, and I also have runny, twitchy eyes.
Lovely.
On the plus side my hair is growing back!!

And now 3 days after chemo I’ve started Beeing sick great
hi everyone,
everything you are experiencing are ses, the tax is a real bitch, i have finished my 6 regime of it, i had my last one on the day of the royal wedding, i have to say it has been one of the hardest things i have ever experienced,
strangley enough the arms and legs like lead only started really on the last two but have continued on after i finished it,
my finger nails have also been horrendous since finishing the poison, all of them are affected, but on my right hand middle finger and ring finger, i have had haematomas under the nails which couldnt be drained because of the risk of infection, the one on my ring finger burst yesterday, absolutely revolting, a lot of ladies have been icing their fingers and toes with bags of frozen peas whilst having the poison administered, well worth trying, i didnt, and now wished i had
i had to have a blood transfusion last week as well,
the swollen ankles thing you can ask your onc or gp for water tablets, i took them, but as soon as i stopped the swelling started again, i too am now trying to keep my feet up in the air lol,
i know it probably isnt of much help to you ladies, but you arent on your own in all of this, and unfortunately we have to just go with it, how much you actually put up with is up to you, you can get a pill which will counteract your ses but the pill usually also has a se so you are defeating the aim,
most of the ladies on the other threads who have gone through this, assure us that you do get better and soon forget all about the ses and pain and misery, so take heed and keep your chins up girls, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and together we will beat this.
and wow if your hair is growing back thats a bonus, my head is still pretty much like a snooker ball, although i do have a bit of stubble making an attempt, lol.
lots of love and best wishes from liz xxxxx
