letrazole

Hello,

I am due to be changed to Letrazole next week. Can anyone tell me how they have found it? Any adverse side effects?

Thank you

My mum started taking Letrazole a month tomorrow. Her tumour was 4 cm and after two weeks and two days it had shrunk to 2.5 cm that is a 37 percent reduction. She had a few headaches at first, but she says it is not to bad at all. It is proving to be a very good choice of drug for her.

Hope this helps Fay and it works as well for you.

I did a drug trial taking Letrazole for 5 years. The trial was so successful that they decided to go ahead with the drug. It’s nice to see drug trials are helping so it is well worth volunteering for them. Also did a five year trial for Clodraplak for bone cancer. Is anyone taking this drug?

Hi Fayjay,

I was on this med for 4 and a half years before things went pear shaped so I am a big fan. Yes, there are some aches and pains but in my case they got better. Wasn’t troubled with headaches but I did have some flushes, again, I kept at it and things got better. This med gave me my longest ever period of stability and in case your interested I was diagnoised 8 and a half years ago.

I have zolodex and letrozole instead of tamoxafen, only side effects I have noticed is that my legs ache but not all the time and its not too bad. nearly forgot about the hot flushes, but I blame the zolodex for those.

ON Femara for about 6 months. Aching joints, hot flushes and put on a bit of weight - Im always starving - but quite tolerable. And it is supposed to be very good for us older girls.

I have been on a daily tablet of Letrozole (Femara) together with monthly injection of Zoladex since March 08, don’t really have any other side effects apart from hot flushes and a bit restless. I think letrozole has been proven to be very effective for post menopause women who has had oestrogen receptor positive bc. I am not quite menopausal yet but on borderline hence I am also getting Zoladex as well. Another lady that I know was on Tamoxifen after her mastectomy and now has also started on Femara since her ovaries removed. So may be letrozole is the in thing now!!! as when I was given this tablet I’ve not heard about it at all and the nurse was surprised as she thought I was supposed to be given tamoxifen. From all the comments above I think we are on a good thing here with Femara!!
