After doing a lot of work on dealing with side effects I thought I nailed most of them apart from frequent urination = crap sleep… Now over 7 months on Letrezol and back to full time work since April I am really struggling not only with fatigue but with really low mood.
Not sure if cumulative effect or getting different brand ( Had Sun and last time Accord) - but it feels like some heavy dark cloud dawned on me.
No joy at all. A week ago cried at team meeting. I don’t know what’s going on with me.
It’s manageable when you don’t work as you only take care about how to function, how to feel better. It’s such a hard work trying to feel better every day. I can’t work part time as I won’t be able to pay my bills so that’s not an option.
I thought it will be easier. A year since diagnosis it feels like I am starting from scratch….
Hi aniat, sorry to hear you are really struggling. I suspect it will be a combination of both. Im on anastrazole and have been since october last year. Im experiencing more side affects now than i did when i first started taking them. I guess its because of the big reduction in oestrogen they cause. I have heard others say that the brand can have an affect too, ie if you are given a different brand to your usual one. Im over a year on since surgery, and this time last year i was having chemo. Im only really now really starting to process what i went through, and it is emotionally quite draining at times. Some days are better than others. You are doing amazing to be back at work full time. You are not alone in how you are feeling. I hope things start to get a little easier for you. Big hugs xx
Hi aniat
First of all wow and well done you’re back in full time employ!!
You have been through such a lot and you don’t realise how much until you go back to ‘normal’ whatever that is!
Personally I stopped work end Dec 22 and then had diagnosis in Feb/March so it’s been a lot different for me.
I, like you am on letrozole and it will be two years in August and I definitely think the side effects increase as time goes on. Well at least they have for me.
Mine is the joint pain, sleeplessness, hot flushes, vaginal atrophy ( which is manageable through med)
Your mindset will change,as when you think about it, you are still processing everything that has happened over the last few months. Your body is still recovering from the surgery and now throw letrozole into the mix and a gallon of back to work it’s no wonder you are experiencing a low mood and fatigue.
Don’t be so hard on yourself you are smashing it
Hi there , I’m on Letrozole and I find the different manufacturers can make a big difference . I prefer the Accord . I once had Sun Pharma but was so low after 3 days on this asked for Accord. I’m also on Citalopram for hot flushes and take Magnesium for the joint pain . There is a Facebook group called ladies Breast Cancer endocrine therapy help group which you might like to join .
