Letrozole and hand pain

Hello,

I’m new to the forum and on here asking questions for my mum. Mum’s in remission after HER2 Positive stage 3 breast cancer. She had chemo, radiation and a mastectomy. Mum’s been taking letrozole but now advised by the oncologist to stop (as a trial) as her hands were extremely painful. She couldn’t and still can’t do simple tasks like open packets or buttons, etc.

Has anyone had the same side effects and stopped taking letrozole? If so, how long was it before you noticed a difference?

Mum is still suffering with painful hands despite having stopped the tablets for at least a month now.

Many thanks in advance. Any information would be great. Just to give mum a bit of reassurance.

Welcome to the forum .I think it’s quite a common side effect of Letrozole unfortunately , some people do seem to get relief after stopping , maybe it needs a bit longer ? There are other options with hormone therapy that your Mum could speak to her doctor about . I noticed your other post and we reply to you there also . Best wishes Jill .
