Hi, I was diagnosed with h breast cancer two years ago. I had a lumpectomy on my left breast, decided to forgo chemo but did do radiation therapy. Then I was put on Tamoxifen and after 6 mo. Ended up with diverticulitis. After bouts of antibiotics I did some research and found out a small percent of people get stomach pain from Tamoxifen so I decided to go off it. My Dr. And oncologist both recommended I take Letrozole but am now having the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this? I had T2 cancer and it was hormone driven. The Tumor was the size of a walnut so they took some lymph nodes and only one had a trace of cancer. I was told at the time if it had been five years earlier the cancer wouldn’t have shown up but due to technology they found minute traces. So I’m now wrestling with the thought of going off the drugs and having some quality of life. The lower back pain and joint pain is there even when taking pain medication. So hard to know what to do.

Hi deidre. I have been on letrozole since june and suffer from joint pain in ankles wrists etc but not stomach ache. Perhaps u cud try a different brand of letrozole and see if that helps.

I have just started letrozole and my IBS has flared up, I do have a lactose intolerance and note that the tablets do contain lactose. Dr has said we can try a different one, but keen to keep on it for the min, best of luck
My diagnosis was very similar, although had the full mastectomy, and I am also thinking of stopping the letrozole as quality of life is being affected by joint pain and feel that quality is much more important than quantity. Hope you soon feel better.
