I am having a prophylactic mastectomy in 2 weeks. I was told to stop my Ribociclib but nobody said anything about the letrozole. Should I be holding that too?
Hi I think it is best that you ask your breast cancer nurse or team to make sure. I didn’t have to stop letrozole before my operation but that was ten years ago, but I did have to stop before chemo. Things change so not sure what the thinking is now.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I will do that. I just wandered what the general consensus was.
Hi moomoo716,
Thanks for posting.
It’s not usually necessary to stop letrozole prior to surgery for the prophylactic mastectomy you’re having as it doesn’t interact with the anaesthetic or increase any risks during the operation. But as @Lizaki says, we would always suggest you check with your pre-op team or breast care nurse in case they have any specific instructions.
