Letrozole and weight

Hopefully stopping Letrozole in November after 5 years. I expect that lots of issues (joint pain, sleep problems, etc) will resolve with its cessation. Can you confirm if weight gain issues will also resolve?

Dear anon26,

Welcome to the forum we are all here for you. Congratulations for completing 5years on Letrazole :star2:. I found this extremely difficult to take, so I take my hat off to you. I think most ladies manage to feel much better at the end of their treatment so let hope you are going to feel more comfortable.

Wishing, you well with lots of happiness ahead, please let us know how you are getting on.

With the biggest hugs Tili :rainbow::pray::rainbow:

Hi anon26

Thanks for posting.

Many people want to know if the side effects of drugs like letrozole will settle once they’ve stopped taking it, but this will vary from person to person.

You may find your side effects do reduce after stopping letrozole. However sometimes they may continue after treatment finishes. This may be because other treatments or individual circumstances are contributing to them, such as the natural menopause.

It’s difficult to predict whether any weight gain issues will resolve once you’ve stopped the drug. Weight gain often naturally affects post-menopausal women, and we speak to many who have difficulty managing their weight.

If you haven’t done so already, you can ask your GP or specialist for support to lose weight if you need to. They may be able to refer you to a dietitian, weight loss programme and exercise programme if necessary.
