Letrozole different brands

Hi

ive tried two brands of Letrozole and all the info I’ve read people are rating the complete opposite to me.

Teva is good for me but Accord caused pain in my joints. I still have achy stiff joints when I first wake up but not pain.

Now my chemist can no longer get hold of Teva only Accord. Which other brands can anyone recommend. If Teva is good for you is there another brand you have tried that’s ok?

Hello Maria,

Just checked on the Teva Uk site and they still seem to be producing Letrozole.  What reason did your chemist give for not being able to access the brand? Can they just not order it in, although you may need to wait for it to come in.  If not willing to order, it may be an idea to change your Chemist. Just suggesting this as you say the Teva brand works for you.

I am not on Letrozole but Anastrazole.  I have stuck with Teva brand since starting on the tabs.  I found Boots Chemist to be the best in dealing with specific requests. They usually don’t have the Teva brand or enough of it in stock but will order it in and let me know when it has arrived.  They were willing to do this even before a GP agreed to specify the brand on my script.  You would need to order in good time to ensure you don’t run out completely.  My GP  allows script for 2 packs at a time but hey ho, I have managed to build up a 7+ month supply because they obviously don’t check things too closely.

I tried a search for the Product Licence (PL) number that appears on your medication box as sometimes the exact same meds can be supplied under different brand names.  For example,  with Anastrazole, the ones supplied in the Almus brand box and the Teva brand box are exactly the same tabs supplied by Teva just under different names.   The PL number I checked was 00289/1168. However only the Teva brand came up. You may want to double check this .

Best Wishes to you,

Chick.

There does appear to be a problem accessing the Teva brand at the moment. I have accepted Accord as I am ok on that for short periods, but end up with a trigger finger. However, my very sweet young pharmacist has phoned around the country and has a little stash with my name on on her cupboard .

The hospital gave me Mr. Reddy for my very first prescription and I had no problems with that. Apparently Femara is the original and best brand, but is horribly expensive .

Good luck with your search. X
