Letrozole or zoledronic acid side effects?

Letrozole or Zoledronic acid symptoms?

I’ve been on letrozole for two weeks and a week ago I had my first zoledronic infusion. I haven’t had any symptoms from either and then yesterday my wrists have swollen up and my knees and joints are really sore. Is this a delayed reaction from the infusion or letrozole? I’m hoping it’s from the infusion and the pain goes away within a few days. Anyone suffer the same symptoms from the zoledronic acid a week after the infusion?

Hi Cip1,
I have had a flu-like reaction to each zoledronic acid infusion I’ve had, but it starts about 12 hours after the infusion and then lasts 24-36hrs more. Lots of people don’t get any symptoms from it.

If it’s the letrozole affecting you, then it could settle down. It can cause symptoms of varying severity and different brands of it may affect people very differently in terms of the strength, types and duration of reactions, ranging from scarcley noticeable to problematic.
All the best to you xx

The zoldronic acid gives you flu symptoms. I had my first one in may and thought it would be ok but for two days after was ill with flu symptoms so when my next one is due I’ll be booking the next day of work. The letrzole makes you stiff. Joint aches. Not as mobile as you were before within my first two months of taking it I noticed how rapidly I felt it in all my joints. As time has gone on I’ve become become use to it. It’s a major change in my daily lifestyle to become use to it and adapt to it but I’m grateful for the long life expectancy I have while on it so I’m continuing with it. Magnesium is a recommended supplement for easing symptoms. Xx
