I was recently diagnosed with secondary breast cancer spread to lung, sternum and femur. It’s very strange because it started with fluid in the lung which has to be drained regularly and they did biopsies from the sternum. From there they diagnosed that it had started in the breast, due to finding oestrogen receptor cancer cells, but they have never found the primary lesion in the breast despite CT scans and PET scans. So they have put me on Letrozole and Ribociclib. I have only been on them for a month and the nausea and sickness have been the worst. I seem to get a lot of headaches, but paracetamol seems to help sort those out. Do these side effects tend to get worse the longer you take them or should they settle down. My biggest problem I think is what goes on in my head and I do have a few meltdowns. How do you all stay so positive and brave?

Hi @julies52 I’m so sorry you find yourself here and in such a difficult situation to come to terms with. I don’t have secondaries myself (as far as I know of course) but wanted to pop on to suggest that you post in the special “Living with secondary breast cancer” category which you can find by hitting the triple horizontal icon in the top right of your screen or by going via the All Categories button. There you will find people who can empathise with you and offer meaningful support and advice. There is a protected area in which women with secondary BC can interact freely and without undue intrusion. Good luck Julie.
