Letrozole side effects - carpel tunnel/arthiritis/trigger finger

Hi everyone,

From the forum I gathered, Letrozole side effects seem to be common, correlated to trigger finger and CTS.

My mother was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer stage 1 on Oct 2023, she had a mastectomy, her lymph nodes showed no metastasis, and she is 58. She is done with chemo and about to finish her target therapy in Jan 2025.

In July 2024, she started to have bad joint pain in her right hand, so we went to an orthopaedic who suggested doing an NCT test. She was positive for capel tunnel syndrome and trigger finger. The doctor recommended to do surgery but my mum didn’t want to do the surgery as she thought it would eventually subside.

We wanted to get a second opinion from a rheumatologist, who confirmed that it was not rheumatoid arthritis but two separate problems. (CTS and trigger finger) He suggested injecting steroids for the pain. This has helped her right hand but now the left is starting to have the same pain. After two months of the injection, the right hand pain is back but not as severe as before.

She has been taking NOW Vitamin D3 with K2, B complex, C plus magnesium glycinate already. I was going to buy her some Doctors Best Glucosamine Chondroitin supplement and Omega 3 to help her with her pain. She is a vegetarian so she was reluctant to take fish oil. She also has gone to numerous physiotherapy session, hand specialist, acupunctures, and owns a splint.

We have spoken to an oncologist, he didn’t recommend injecting the same hand with steroids. He provided some more vitamins, physio session and offer to change the type of hormone therapy.

Now we are stuck as there are so many mixed messages. I can see that many people have had similar side effects but there was no certain method that helped one. I do understand that if it was a simple straight answer, everyone would have taken it.

My question is to the people who have tried these supplements and injections. Did you inject in the same hand that you did your surgery? Did it work and how? If it didn’t work, what have you tried?
I appreciate your input regardless.

I get omega 3 capsules from ‘Nothing Fishy’ They extract the omega 3 from algae. I take Vit D3 vitamin drops. I also take 3 supplements to help my liver as the liver deals with all the rubbish that our body generates including possibly stuff from letrozole… These supplements are beetroot juice, milk thistle tablets and dandilion tea. I’ve only been on letrozole for 4 months and so far no side effets.
