Hi, I have been on Letrozole since December and really struggling with pains in legs knees and ankles, currently awaiting double mastectomy, will standard pain killers help with the aches and pains?
Welcome to the forum Debc33 . I’m sorry Letrozole is causing you issues .joint pain seems to be quite a common side effect Have you discussed this with your BC nurse ? I have joint pain caused by other health problems there are a range of anti-inflammatories that may help with the pain if over the counter meds don’t help . Hoping you get some relief soon . Best wishes Jill x
hello Debc33,
Different brands of Letrozole can give different side effects. If you have only been on one brand it might be worth asking your GP for a different brand.
I have found one that doesn’t cause me any side effects as yet, but I have also found one that does, so it maybe worth seeing what your GP or BCN advises.
Good luck
Same here…my knees are killing me and I’ve been taking letrozole for just over 3 months…I had an invasive and advanced lobular BC…12.5cm tumor and 3 lymph nodes affected; had a mastectomy and 31 lymph nodes removed; 5 months of gruelling chemo and 15 RT sessions. I need to take it for 7 years and the pharmacist told me to take good old paracetamol…apparently you can take it for 7 years?? My poor liver will have to work overtime for sure… I’ve heard from other people that maybe switching the brand will help but don’t believe this as it’s the same drug and is just not going to help…hoping that my body is going to get use to it and also been doing quite a lot of walking as found out that it helps…and if I am sitting for a prolong period of time can’t actually get up easily…I am 44 years old and never had this kind of problem…night time the symptoms are defo getting worse…sorry that I am not more helpful but we just need to weigh the pros and cons of taking it to prevent recurrence and living with pain!!!
