Letrozole Side Effects

Totally agree Carolyn52 x

Hi

I started Letrozole 2 months ago and am being woken several times a night with night sweats, I throw off duvet then wake feeling cold, and pull it back over me and then wake up so hot and sweaty. Also have hot flushes several times a day. Iā€™m taking the accord brand.Ā

Has anyone found reflexology helpful or acupuncture?

Hi Pili Pals which brand are you on. I was likevtgatvwith Cipla and since changing to Accord a week ago I feel like a different person. I also suffered with severe dry eyes and they put it down to the air conditioning in the room where I had the rafiotherapy daily. For the sweats I stopped drinking coffee and gone back to what I drink all day, hot water with lemon and the odd cup of tea as I read on a website coffee can make it worse.
What we go through eh. Hope it improves.

Hi All

I started my first acupuncture on Wednesday at my hospitalā€™s Macmillan centre and so far havenā€™t had a night sweat since and my hot flushes the last two days have definitely been fewer. ?So onwards and upwards.

I have to take Letrozole for 10 years as my Breast cancer was high risk, so stopping it isnā€™t an option. xx

Thank you pip for that?
Iā€™ll have a lookā€¦some ladies on here have advised against soya products, but the rest looks good.

So I have got through surgery WLE and lymph nodes x 2 removed. All clear!! My surgeon is sending script to gp for letrozole as I am post menopausal. Reading the thread here I am starting to get worried! Is there anyone out there who is actually ok on letrozole? I am fit and very active and now scared that my quality of life is going to be affected

Hi Ali,
There are many of us who are fine on hormone therapy, or al least find any side effects manageable, so this would not tend to be reported here, as understandably, those with issues will post.
Iā€™m on tamoxifen & I remember feeling apprehensive before starting it, especially after reading experiences here, as it turns out, itā€™s been ok.
See how you go, if you have side effect issues, then deal with it then.
Wishing you well with it.

Hi thank you all for your help. Yes surreyhillsgirl my cancer was very small. Early stage but ER+ which is why Iā€™m being prescribed letrozole. Itā€™s preventative measure as my margins were clear and there is no node involvement. I am also going to have 15 radiotherapy sessions. I do hope I donā€™t have bad side effects, guess I will just have to test the waters. I hope you are all well. ?

You are not mad. .there is a lot of media hype about this on the feet ā€¦itā€™s more successful in children but definitely better than swigging cough medicine ā€¦
I donā€™t think there is much difference between vapour rub and deep heat / tiger balm so hence the less aches ā€¦but if it works. .keep doing it !!
I donā€™t mind the smell so can live with the aroma in my bedroom. Xx

Ooooo might give that a go!!

Hello everyone!

I have some doubts about Letrozole and gain weight, i hope you can help me! I gained a stone after indulgingĀ myself during first 3 months of chemo (red one) with full sedentary life and good food! and on the secondĀ partĀ a milder chemo allowed me to start loosing weight with diet and regular exercise. I worked really hard because i had read that it would be harder to loose weight once i started on Letrozole, once my chemo and radio wasĀ done. So i lost the stone, and actually i am doing medium effort exercise everyday, at least an hour ( i swim, i go to the gym or hike, on alternante days) i am trying to follow a healthy, not too restrictive diet, Ā and iĀ  havent gained weight again in 3 months. I am really worried about weight beacuse my oncholosgist has emphasized greatly on avoiding gaining weight as part of treatment. I just started on letrozole, two days ago, and i want to know if i will keep my weight if i continue with my healthy diet andĀ exercise, or if i need to diet and exercise more. Good vibes to you all fighters!Ā

Hi ladies
I myself have been on letrozole since end of July I also have the aches and pains on a morning in my legs but Iā€™m also suffering from neuropathic lymphadema in both my affected arm and breast which is very painful I also would love to lose some weight as put nearly two stone on while recovering from surgery and chemo and finding it hard to lose also restricted to what exercise can do would appreciate any advice from anyone
Thanks luv gail xxxx

My problems with Anasrozole were confusion, tired, exhaustion, feeling like I got hit by a brick wall. After two weeks, I had to stop. It was affecting my whole life. They wanted me to try again but I declined profusely! Iā€™m on Letrozole now for ten days now. I keep falling asleep, hot flashes are worse than ever. Feels like pins and needles running through my body. Iā€™m recovering from rotator cuff surgery. They had me wait until Vicodin was out of my system. Only took them fora few days. Anyone else have these problems? I nod off all day long. I go out and Iā€™m so tired. I get out and walk around for exercise. If this tiredness doesnā€™t go away soon, I donā€™t want to keep taking this. I had a 6mm small lump, 2 lymph nodes, chemo 4x, 30 proton therapy treatments.Ā

Was the rotary cuff to do with the tablets? I have that too!

Hi, Iā€™ve switched from Tamoxifen to Letrazole and am coming towards the end of my first packet, but have noticed that I feel dizzy in the last couple of days, itā€™s a bit like sea sickness, and last night I felt like the room was spinning when I went to bed.Ā  Is this normal, will it pass?Ā  I was really lucky and didnā€™t suffer any symptoms with tamoxifen, other than the standard hot flushes.Ā  Thanks x

Hi there, can you tell me what difference the brand of lexetrole does to the body?

Hi I am 51. I finished chemo 11 weeks ago and had a masectomy andxrecon 8 weeks ago. I stared letrozole 12 days ago but by he end of day 4 my knees were so painful i coild barely walk. I had done a 5k jog and walk so thought it was that but i had done the same the week before and had been fine. The only difference this time was that i had started letrozole 3 days before!

But 3 days later, after only taking letrozole for 7 days, the pain was so much worse. I cant wear jeans my knees are so painful! I went to my gp and cried. She told me to stop taking the letrozole so i did for 3 days to see if things improved but they havent. My onc and bcn both said keep taking it.

I took one yesterday and i am keeping the pain controlled with alternating painkillers. This morning i feel rough with my knees, legs and ankles being really painful. I really dont want to take it anymore!

I feel Iā€™ve done the chemo, Iā€™ve dine the masectomy and now the horm9ne treatment has absolutely floored me after just one week!
