Letrozole - strange side effects?

Hello everyone,

started only last Friday (22/07/22) taking Letrozole for first time in my life (had lumpectomy to remove a 10mm IDC in May, neg lymph nodes, RH+, done 5x course of radiotheraphy in July) and I am experiencing strange, maybe unusual, side effects. Let me explain: since I read on many posts here (and also my BCN mentioned it) that it was better to take the Letrozole at night to get the side effects through inactive hours/sleep I did so but on the first night it was ok no issues, on the second night after 3 hrs I woke up and had insomnia, couldn’t sleep at all, kept on having buzzing ears which I know can be a sign of increased blood pressure (mine has always been normal) and a headache which could hardly shake the day after. So I have then started to take it in the morning and it still gives me a tension like headache (not as bad as previous nights) and very tense calves. So it’s not a joint ache, just my leg calves feel very tense, hard, as if I did a long calf toning session at the gym.

Does anyone recognises these side effects? If yes, have you found a way around it?
I know it’s early days (barely a week) but I am trying to find my feet with this medicine and its potential arm length long list of side effects.

Thank you.

L.

Hi Lucy ,maybe best just to run your symptoms past your breast care nurse ? The hormone therapy drugs can cause all sorts of strange symptoms particularly while your body initially adjusts but always best to check with your BCN x
