letrozole

is anyone else taking letrozole? would like to connect with people who are going through it. I’m particularly battling with fatigue and would like to know how others are coping.

Welcome Boni , yes lots of people on Letrozole . Maybe you could post in the hormone therapy section too ?forum.breastcancernow.org/t5/Hormone-therapy/bd-p/4438

Thank you!

Sorry Boni just realised we are already in the hormone therapy section!! I thought you’d posted in the introduce yourself self section ? sleep deprived brain !!

There’s a running thread on letrozole at the moment which I’ve been finding really helpful.  I’ve been on it for around 18 months and the worst problem I have is stiffness (although the worst of it wore off after a few months) and tendinopathy - ie any minor strains result in tendon damage - currently in my hip, foot and hand, along with carpal tunnel syndrome which suddenly appeared overnight in both hands simultaneously.  I sometimes don’t even register the event that caused the injury, but the consequences just appear a few days later and take months to heal up.  I get mild fatigue and depression anyway, so it’s really hard to tell if the letrozole has made it any worse, (I haven’t really noticed a huge change, but I suspect it hasn’t helped).  The stiffness fluctuates - it’s been bad lately, don’t know why, but mostly I just get on with life and try to ignore it.

Bear in mind everyone responds to drugs differently, you may be one of the lucky ones who has very little side effects, and only those who are struggling tend to post on these forums, so don’t let the thread scare you.

Ohmigosh, Marianne. This! “I sometimes don’t even register the event that caused the injury, but the consequences just appear a few days later and take months to heal up.”

What is that?? It happens to me all the time ? Luckily it’s not more than a minor annoyance but what causes that?

Hi Boni

I’ve been taking letrozole for nearly 7 months. The first 3 or 4 months I felt awful. Exhausted doesn’t even cover it. I slowly started to feel better but it took time. Now I just have the occasional hot flush

Hi I remember last time I had Letrozole in 2015 I was like some one at 89 coming down stairs on my bum and I only took them for 3mnths. I had a word with my oncolagist and asked what’s the % of it coming back if I were to stop taking the Letrozole he said about 2% I said I’m sorry quality of life is important to me I stopped taking them and bounced back to my normal self… 9years later breast cancer came back so makes me wonder if it’s because I stopped the Letrozole the first time anyway I ve had A DIEP flap reconstruction op this time and HAVE to take the Letrozole for 10 yrs now. And I willake sure I do this time I’m not to bad at the moment I think last time it was due to keep getting different brands every month this time I’m sticking to the sam brand and even got the chemist to try keep getting the one brand in for me and putting my name on a back up box for the following month… I realy think last time was due to the different brands. Hope this helps.
