Hi Im jist wondering if Im on the cheap letrozole tablets (accord)… and Im just getting used to the SE. Ihope they do t change my brand on the second packet the packet ive got was given at the hospital chemist when I went back for my results after my opp…Im reading lots of different things o here all about different brands etc…does everyone who takes these tablets stay on the same brand once been prescribed them ?? X
Sorry I am all over the place with this site. New to it and can’t get it straight. I asked on someone’s thread if anyone was taking Letrozole. I have been on it for 1 1/2 yrs. I did not realize there were different brands of this drug? My Rx says it contains Letrozole period nothing else. Anyway…I have had a lot of side effects…now granted I have suffered from depression and anxiety for years and take Rx for that. With the letrozole I have been going through terrible mood swings, anxiety, hair loss, insomnia, bone pain, fatigue, memory problems. I live 60 miles away from the hospital where my oncologist is and missed my last check-up just terrified to go and drive. I actually wouldn’t go out of my apt. for days on end. Started having panic attacks again. Now I attribute some of that to the Letrozole but I think what has happened is I started to remember what has happened…the surgeries/chemo/infections really clearly where as before it felt like it was happening to someone else. Sort of like PTSD. Anyone else ever felt this way?
Morning im on Letrozole im only on my third packet I absalutley hate taking them I really think if I didnt take them I would feel noraml again …like you I dont sleep horrid taste on tongue aching joints hair thinning. Banging head and the list goes on… I go see oncologist on tuesday and my top question will be whats the odds of not taking the tablets… it obviously not got any netter for you taking them all this time …I really jist want my life back its shicking ehat these tablets are doing to us take care x

Hello
I started taking Letrozole in January 2014 and have to take for 10 years. Over the next few months I received different brands. There was no consistency even though I used the same pharmacy. During these first few months I had a permanent headache as well as other side effects.
I talked to my oncologist about the headaches and was sent for a brain scan as a precaution…the scan was clear. My oncologist wrote to my GP to say that I should only be prescribed the Femara brand by Novartis. The headaches disappeared, but I still have other side effects such as fatigue, dizziness, bone pain etc. I can cope with the other side effects, but I could not cope with the permanent thumping headache.
It is a known fact that generic brands of letrozole differ not with the base medication, but with the coating on the tablet.

It’s definitely worth asking to try a different brand. I started on Accord and had very few side effects. The last prescription was dispensed as Sterling (basically what the pharmacy had in stock) and I’ve had shocking side effects. Went back after 2 weeks as I felt so ghastly and asked for Accord and now I’m feeling like me again!
I have been taking letrozole for 15 months and take Reba. I had Cipla for 5 days and the effects were incredibly bad, so glad I didn’t start on them, but at least I know now and my pharmacy has noted not to give me them again. I take mine in bed at around 5.30, about half an hour or an hour before I get up. I eat something, usually wholemeal toast before I have tea or coffee and find this manages a lot of the side effects. I do have problems with my fingers and thinning hair, and am struggling with my weight but I believe that this means that the drug is working. Gentle yoga and walking every day helps me to cope with some of it. I work full time so I have to manage with it. It is possible that these drugs will improve with time and I am determined to take them for as long as necessary.
Not Reba, Teva.
