Letrozole

I have been taking Letrozole (Actavis).  I take it every lunch time at 13:30 with my lunch, use an alarm so I dont forget it, even when I am at work.  I was recently given Letrozole by Cipla. After a week became very sick felt like crap,  headache along with all kinds of other symptoms. I went back to chemist and manged to get Actavis again. The last month the chemist said they had trouble getting them again. Luckily I had a spare packet. I did a little research of my own phoned the company that made them they were very helpful, I have recently tried Accord brand as was told, they are very similar to Actavis. Been on them for a week now and seem to be ok. The pharmaceutical company Alliance deliver to Boots and they have Actavis and Accord. Hope this helps. Breast Cancer is bad enough without getting messed around with medication especially when we have to take it for years.

Thanks for the info about Actavis/Accord.  I’ve been doing fine on Accord but have had a dreadful reaction to Stirling.  My pharmacist says he can’t always get Accord so it’s really helpful to know that Actavis might be a suitable alternative for me.

Hi

I am on Cipla brand and feel so weak and tired. Have been getting headaches as well. Not doing much makes me so washed out (I have been putting this down to being only 6 weeks post surgery). Are we able to ask for different brands? Thought you just had to take what was given

Hi
You can ask the pharmacy to order a specific brand. I’m on accord which seems to be recognised as one of the better ones. Sadly they do come with side effects, but the positives outway the negatives.
In my experience, side effects seem to come and go. I was experiencing headaches recently, but this seems to have settled. Give it some time, and things should improve. If you are really not coping, then speak to your oncologist as there are other tablets they can try.
Best wishes all xx

Hi ladies

ive just been reading this forum and pleased I did.  I have been taking letrozole for the past  2 months and found that with Sandoz I had  horrendous hot flushes, my next brand which I started last week was Cipla.  This past week I have been suffering with aches and pain and headaches, blamed it on all sorts but now connecting it with the tablets.  I’ve also been given actsvis which seems to have a better write up on here so think I  will start those tomorrow and see how it goes.  I started to go to a support group last week and they mentioned there about the different side affects of these tablets, so I guess it’s trial and error until we find the one that suits us.  Good luck to all you lovely ladies, this site is amazing for all of us.

take care xxxx
