Licap Lump!

I am 4 months post Licap surgery, and struggling with the pain/discomfort felt by the way my boob has a hardened lump which sticks out to the side. I feel the discomfort in my underarm as well and feel like I’m all out of shape.

Any advice or suggestions? Huge thanks

Good morning!

I had MICAP surgery this time last year so my firm lumpy bit is in the middle. It is settling down and I’m less aware of it. I guess it’s my new normal- getting through the first mammogram with the all clear was very helpful as that boob does feel a bit strange. It took several months for the pain and discomfort to settle down ( choice of bra was crucial with this..) and the scar still feels a bit tight but I am getting used to it. My boob does look a bit wonky but ok in a bra/ swimsuit etc. My partner says he can’t see the difference but he should have gone to Specsavers . Overall I’m happy I was offered this surgery rather than a mastectomy.

Cheers

I am 12 months post-Licap surgery and I know exactly what you mean about feeling lumpy and out of shape. I found things slowly improved for the first 3 months but then the radiation changes seemed to kick in and since then the soreness, lumpiness and tightness has got a bit worse. I called the breast care nurse at about 10 months and was seen by the surgeon just as a precaution. He said it is just the side effects of treatment and will continue to get worse for a while yet. I’m having scar physio privately to try to improve things but at some point I’m going to need to just accept that this is the way it is. Not quite there yet though! It feels strange that they put so much effort into getting a good surgical result but when that result gets impaired by the radiotherapy they just sort of shrug.
