lip sore

I am in my first cycle of chemo and have had a few side effects but the worst this time is a mega size lip sore. Can anyone advise what I can do for it. It is driving me mad and can only drink with a straw.

Hi Melena, I can’t help with your problem but there is a support group of ladies who started their chemo in July. They are called the July Junkies, I’m sure you’d be made most welcome. Best wishes Pat x

Hi Melena. If you phone your gp they’ll give you some gel on prescription, hopefully you’ve got your free prescription card. You shouldn’t have to go in and see anyone of you tell them you’re having chemo And theyll do a prescription. Ask for some mouth wash as well and use twice a day. It will get better when you come out of your low period, so take heart that it doesn’t last forever. Xx

I completely sympathise I suffered horrendously with sore mouth, lips and mouth ulcers. At one point my mouth was so full of sores I couldn’t even close it and eating was competely out of the question. I was given Diflam mouthwash and daktarin paste, these both temporarily eased the pain but my saviour was Iglu bought from the chemist (quite expensive for tiny tube) you just put a smear on each sore and it puts a protective coating over it. It’s instant pain relief and i could eat again and everything it became my new best friend during chemo! Hope the sores ease off for you janey xx
