Hello All
Iwas after some advice/information and hope one of the lovely ladies on here may help. Im 42 and was diagnosed June 2008, WLE then 2nd op for wider margins, 3 FEC & 3 TAX, 18 RAD & 18 HERCEPTIN, final part of treatment finished December 2009. I have been having check-ups every 3 months alternating between surgeon & onc. Anyway appt today with surgeon no changes to last appt but he looked at scar and said we are now ‘fat filling’ are you interested?? Asked what it was he said probably fat from stomach may need 2. I said yes okay, was probably in there no more than 5 mins did try to get more info but he was not very forthcoming, he said to nurse put her on list for ‘lipofil??’
Yes I have a quite a big dinge in breast but I wear a bra with some padding and you dont see it then (without bra it is noticeable). My good breast is a lot bigger and headed south a long time ago so it can be quite noticeable in certain outfits, now this has worried me more than scar dent. I did mention size of good breast and reduction he said well lets see what happens with this!!
Now im home Im not too sure if I want it done as I dont know if Im too scared to have an ‘operation’ as is this going to cause more unnecessary problems as I am feeling really well and in a great ‘place’ for the first time in a long time.
Has anyone had this procedure or have some information of what needs to be done.
(sorry to go on a bit as this is the first question i think i have ever asked on here)
Debbie
I had lipofilling last November. Initially I was very pleased but over time quite a bit of the fat has been reabsorbed. The op itself took 2 hrs and I had an overnight stay in hospital. They took fat from my abdomen from 4 places which has left a light mark on my skin. It was a bit uncomfortable but not painful. My abdomen was quite bruised but my breast was pain free. I went back to work 2 weeks later. They have developed a new procedure for lipofilling called CERS and I believe that there is far less reabsorbtion. They remove the fat under general anaethetic and insert the modified fat into the breast under a local anaethetic. I will need more lipofilling to finish the job. the surgeon did tell me initially that I would need a couple of sessions, I hope that they do the CERS op locally on the NHS very soon as I had to pay for my lipofilling.
Hi
I was offered lipofil when I asked about the size being small this was last August. I have little fat as have an ongoing eating disorder so said no an am now having an implant as want it all over and done with in 1 go as was told lipofil would take 3 or 4 goes and each time you reabsorb about 40%
other people on here have had lip[ofil so may be they will put something on

Lipofill was suggested to me too. I have had WLE and re-excision. Not too bad a dint at moment but who knows if clear margins this time or further to go. I asked can you do partial implants or something to fill it out and she said that lipofill would be a better bet (although I’m a skinny too so I’d better get eating pies in preparation). Surgeon said thigh fat works best as about half stomach fat gets rebsorbed but only about a third of thigh fat! Still sounds like a fairly natural way of “topping” up wonky boobs x
Thanks girls, I must admit I have plenty of fat to spare but have started at the gym and swimming lessons to help lose weight so not sure if I should wait until I can hopefully lose this weight and then see what my ‘wonky boobs’ look like, Mary Grace it does sound like the most natural way to do it. (Lucky me they can choose from tummy or thighs)
I was just surprised when he said to the nurse put her on the list, I just dont know how soon that will be as I said he didnt give me too much information about it. I hope when an appointment comes thru, I will be able to discuss it some more before deciding whether to go ahead as Im not sure if I want to put myself thru the surgery again and he said it may need to be done a oouple of times.
Cadi I do hope you are able to get it done via the NHS next time it seems so unfair that you have to pay privatley.
I appreciate any information you have.
Debbie x
Hi Debbie, I think lipofill is only a day surgery so hopefully not too bad x
Thanks Mary Grace, to be honest before he mentioned it, if I had read about it I would have said oh thats great Id have that. I think my breast surgeon just threw me a bit because last time I mentioned the difference in sizes another doctor just offered me a prosthesis for my bra and I didnt want to wear one, so I assumed they would never offer me surgery at all. x
