Liver mets, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea!

I had chest pain recently along with nausea which has progressed into sickness and diarrhoea. I went into hospital and they discovered multiple liver mets including large liver mets of 11cms. I can’t see my Oncologist until next Thursday as she is too busy but the nurse said they would ‘look at’ further chemo. I’ve been given Domperidone for the nausea but it doesn’t seem to be doing much. I feel so depressed I feel like I am dying. Has anyone else had nausea, sickness and diarrhoea with liver mets and managed to get at least well enough to function each day? I am starting to think this is the end…

Hi Katherine

I’m so sorry to read you are feeling so ill, it sounds like you’re having a really tough time at the moment.  May I suggest that you give your out of hours GP a call as he may be able to prescribe you some other medication for the sickness.  Also whilst you wait for the other users to reply with their knowledge and experience you may find it reassuring to contact the BCC helpline on 0808 800 6000.  Here you can talk thorugh your fears and thoughts with someone who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm and Saturday 10 to 2pm.

I hope this helps, best wishes Sam, Facilitator

Hi Katherine,

I know you must be feeling really low at the moment. If you feel ill you are constantly thinking the worst. Try to stay positive. There are lots of treatments to try out there and I’m sure your onc will have you on something very soon. Are you taking anything at the moment?

I read recently about a lady on an Australian website whose liver was in a terrible state when they discovered her cancer but several years down the line she has had several holidays and was feeling very positive.

Hope you feel better soon. Thinking of you. Love Sheila. Xx

Katherine, huge hugs coming your way. Hang on in there, as Sheila has said there are treatments out there so don’t give up.
Ring your GP as Sam has said. Waiting until next Thursday is far too long.please get some help to control the sickness ect.now.
Massive hugs,Helen xxxxxxx

Katherine - can’t add anymore than the other ladies but sending you huge hugs. xxx

Hi katherine…hope youve got some effective treatment sorted out by now. You should be able to contact a bcn by phone and if she’s not available you should at least be able to leave a message for her to contact you as a matter of urgency. You certainly shouldn’t be suffering.
Hope you’re better soon…sending love & hugs

Hi All! Thanks again for your responses. It helps so much. My GP came out in the end and has diagnosed a serious infection that is now being treated. I’m hoping this will relieve the pain as well. Thanks also Helen, I will try to log in to the Bone Mets thread. I have a tiny bit in my hip.

Off to see the Oncologist on Thursday - wish me luck!

So sorry to hear what you have been going through but glad you are getting sorted. So glad I am seeing a different lady GP as my male GP is rubbish (Cann’t put what I really think of him!) Sending positive vibes. Vicky
