Long post but need advice

Pls bear with me on this long post. 15 days ago I found a small lump on my right breast. Goggled it and read about hormone changes. Wasn’t due on period as only been 2 weeks since last one so thought its not hormones. Next day I started a period! Very odd. So I put lump down to hormones after all. Left it for a week and tarried to find lump again. This time I felt 3 lumps. Cue panic! This was on Sunday. Monday morning went to docs. He saiHershey were ‘pea’ like lumps and didn’t seem worried. Told me to wait until after my next period and check again. If still there after next period then to go straight back to docs. Not very happy with having to wait up to a month but ok. So anyway last night I started getting pains in my breast. Strange aching pain with stabbing shooting pains. And today again but also in my other breast. Quite painful to be honest. Could this be from the breast exam or is it all in my head because I can’t think of anything else? Or could it be down to the lumps? Strange how pain is in other breast too tho.

Sorry it’s a long post but needed to get it all written down. Can anyone offer advice or support x

Hi Lucy. Thank you x

Hi sinfully, the pain could be a bit of both, all the prodding and poking, and also in your head. We all go through this when we first find any kind of lump. Our minds go into overdive and every little ache and pain seems 10 times worse and worries us sick.
Having said that, could you see a different doctor and ask to be referred to the breast clinic? The lumps might just be cysts, or some other of the many benign lumps women can get. But you do need to know and have your mind put to rest. Your doctor is only a general practitioner and not an expert.
If you are happy to wait another month, then that is up to you. But please make sure you get a referral then, if not before for your own peace of mind.

Hi sinfully, your description sounds similar to when I had breast cysts (15 over 30 years) they were all benign. My advice would be to go back to your GP and tell them how worried you are and ask for a referral to a specialist breast clinic.
Good luck

Hi…I don’t know anything about why you have pain in your boobs but can only say…my lump was large in proportion to my breast…3cm wide and long and it wasn’t painful at all…I had no idea it was there…no symptoms…nothing…as PG says could you see another dr…all the prodding and poking won’t be helping…I was also told by my GP that BC doesn’t hurt…that’s why so many cases go unoticed for ages…that’s only his opinion but he is a GP…once you find a lump your brain does go into overdrive…it’s only natural…most breast lumps are benign…so I wish you all the best and a massive hug to you…and don’t google!!!

Thanks ladies. I will be heading back to the docs tomorrow as my breast has been extremely sore all day and I’ve also had pain in my shoulder blade and should and felt like I’ve had a dead arm all day. Also my breast is noticeably bigger than it was. Around the top side of the breast has become hard to touch. Probably not BC (hopefully) but pretty sure something is not right. X
