Losing weight

Hi

Does anyone have any advice at all! For losing weight apart from the usual. breastcancernow.org/about-us/news-personal-stories/losing-weight-after-breast-cancer-treatment. This is the standard advice; but this is obvious and nothing is working. It’s like being trapped in an obese body waiting for the inevitable recurrence owing to the risk factors of being overweight. I even googled whether the new diet injection could be taken with all my breast cancer treatments tonight and the top result was to ‘warn’ me that being overweight is a high risk of BC recurrence… no s***! Thanks for that! Any advice welcome! I imagine the answer is starve! As I’ve tried everything else. I swim and exercise weekly too, which causes pain, and injury which then makes me worry about what the pains are, but I do it to increase movement.

Hi I’m Hayleigh and I’m in the same boat as you. I cannot believe how much weight I have put on and how my body has changed. I’m so miserable and don’t recognise myself. I just stopped letrazole because the pain was so bad and I was housebound. Starting to feel better after a month of no pills and I’ve joined a swimming pool to get myself moving and fit again. This cancer thing is so hard and I will never be the same again but I don’t want to give up. I wish you well with your journey

Hello @Anonymous

I am wondering if the method I used might be of interest to you? I finished my BC treatment in October 2021 and in May last year decided that I really wanted to change my relationship with food and for my waist band to just be a bit looser! Like you I knew the standard advice the problem is putting it into practice!
I had managed to lose weight previously using a hypnotherapy book/CD suffice to say my subconscious knew the CD word for word so it didn’t really work this time!

There is an app called Noom:  you have to pay for it, but it uses CBT to help you re-establish your relationship with food rather than telling you what to eat and when.
I thought long and hard about paying for it but decided in the end it was no more expensive than what I was paying for exercise classes and the like, and I am so pleased to have actually shifted some weight (and a whole lot of anxieties as well )

I have used CBT before in my life to treat depression and to stop smoking and I have great faith in the subconscious mind and how it can be changed

I hope this is helpful for you
