Lump in throat after radiotherapy

just wondering if anyone else has had this - finished radiotherapy nearly 6 weeks ago & towards the end of it had slight sore throat which I was told was normal due to some of my treatment. Since then have had what feels like a restriction/lump in my throat. It doesn’t stop me swallowing but is a bit irritating & I’m worried in case it gets worse. Can anyone reassure me that this will go away with time?

Hi Anita, had something similar. I also had a sore throat which was further down than usual and was more of an irritation if that makes sense). I finished a month ago today and for the last week or so have done all of my exercises and massaged the whole area. It is getting much better. I called the radiotherapy helpline who said it was normal and to take normal sore throat remedies. It takes longer than I read for radiotherapy pains to improve (months). I had treatment to the chest wall to my collar bone and caught a bit of my throat. I also was prescribed Beconase by my GP for the discomfort  which helped. Try massaging it and then call your BCN if this doesn’t help.

Thanks for posting - thought I was alone with this. Jill xx
