Lump not seen on ultrasound.

Good afternoon

I had a lumpectomy 4 years ago following IDC of 8mm. No nodes involved. Estrogen and Her2 positive. No chemo, just radiotherapy and anastrazole.
over the years I have found a couple of small lumps on affected breast and happily they were either a fat necrosis, cyst and a hair follicle. All seen on ultrasound. Last week I found another very small lump near end of scar. Scar is 4” long as had to lose nipple. BC nurse felt it and said she wasn’t at all worried and felt like a fatty (something or other) but arranged an ultrasound. Have just been for it and they couldn’t see anything. I asked how I and BC nurse could feel it but not found. They kept looking and saw one small area and said to each other it could be that, pointing to small area on screen and which they called a fatty lobular. I had a trainee plus qualified sonographer watching who also scanned as a well. They seemed at a loss to know what else. I did feel sort of reassured but I’ve now let brain do overtime, especially after reading others experiences. I’ll wait to speak to BC nurse with official results and see if the second one who has to agree can see a lobular or whatever. Can’t help being worried though.

Thanks all and needed to get it off of my chest.

Hello Frances,

Sorry you’re worried over this palpable but invisible lump. It’s hard not to worry once you’ve had breast cancer treatment isn’t it? Hope you get more definite results through soon. It might be worth you ringing one of the nurses on here, in the meantime, to talk it through.

I find it hard to know what is normal and what is not, now.  Even after ultrasounds and benign biopsies earlier this year and annual mammograms - have not long had my second year follow up - I still worry, especially at night.
