Hello, while showering I found a lump on my right breast, made an appointment with my GY doctor, he said he couldn’t feel it. I was very upset and told him it was there, he sent me for a screening mammogram, result was given the same day and they found I have “something” there… now I’m scheduled for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound… I’m terrified, crying everywhere and can’t barely sleep. My grandma and aunt on my father’s side both have breast cancer and died of it. I’m 47 y/o, trying to be positive but I can’t help it… I have the feeling it is cancerous and that I probably didn’t caught it on time. I don’t know what to do, so sad and frustrating
@rosuri oh sweetheart as hard as it is try not to worry. It sounds like you have done all of the right stuff you have gone for your screening so well done that is incredibly brave. Also it sounds to me like “if” it is anything if the Dr cannot feel anything it is hopefully very early and treatments are amazing. Sending love and strength that it is all fine but again well done for not ignoring anything that doesn’t feel right xxx
Hey @rosuri, I’m new on here too but slightly further on in my treatment. Like you a lump was found in my right breast, for me it was in my regular mammogram. I couldn’t feel it even when I knew it was there. Like you I had a much loved relative who died thirty years ago of BC so I shared your initial fears. However, as you will realise as you go on now, things have changed so much and treatments are very individually planned by a team who know so much about the disease.
Anyway, had lumpectomy six weeks ago which is healing well and taking comfort from a competent team who know what they are about. If you haven’t already, get a phone number for a McMillan nurse and have a chat with them about your fears etc. Sure that will help. Above all, be kind to yourself and find ways to distract yourself while waiting for any action.
All the best with everything!
Hi rosuri
You did yhe right thing by getting it checked out and your doctor also did yhe right thing by referring you for mammogram, even although they couldn’t feel anything. It is a scary time going through the tests and waiting for final results. I was diagnoses in January 2023 and underwent lumpectomy and radiotherapy and now doing fine.
If you get the news you dont want, just remember treatments are more advanced and more effective these days. Think of all the nice things you like to do. You will find lots of support for you on here. Good luck with the rest of your tests. Let us know how you get on xx
It’s such a frightening experience isn’t it? I also found a lump in my right breast in February, the GP was able to estimate the size, so it sounds as if yours has been caught really early. Diagnosis & treatment seems to be really quick, I had my surgeries & radiotherapy & was given the ‘cancer free’ in July. I wish you all the best.
I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through @rosuri
