I was diagnosed with DCIS high grade last February and surgery (mammoplasty)and radiotherapy and now recently I’ve noticed a hard lump underneath my breast where there is a scar. It’s not felt on the skin only inside. As I had a mammoplasty the cut was made from under the breast and this is where I feel it. I’m so scared that it’s back again. I have an appt on Monday but just am so worried. Has this happened to anyone could it be because of the surgery scar?

try not to worry,  this could just be scar tissue… i was recalled back on a mammogram,  found suspicious looking area.   Worried myself sick it was cancer again but turned out to be just scar tissue.

I had surgery for DCIS in March last year. I developed a lump close to my scar but not attached to it. It was checked out a few weeks ago and I was told it’s a combination of surgical clip, scar tissue and changes to the tiny amount of breast tissue I have left in that area.

Hi Simi7, I’ve had this too - twice had ultrasound and it was an internal stitch and/or scar tissue. The doc doing the scan said there was a neat scar on the outside, but a lot more inside. So it is absolutely possible that is all yours is, but you are right to get it checked. Try not to worry (so hard I know!!)
